Gasperillas is open today. Looking lovely inside with much much more seating. Smaller arcade room right at the back where I think the kids club used to be - it is separate from the dinning area therefore no noise cross over.

Menu looked simular from when we stayed here last year but only displaying breakfast menu at that time. New fountain drinks station with much bigger selection like coke zero etc - very small grumble of mine from our past stays.

Positive change! Guess they are going to need the extra room!

Oh yay! You have made my day! It will be so nice to have GG open and I love the thought of more beverage choices-- even if I tend to drink water all the time at home ;) It will already be a menu change for us since we are Poly dwellers, so even if there is no change in the regular menu, that's OK for us. But change can be good!

Thanks for posting this :thumbsup2

Wifi at the Grand is as awful as ever therefore photos may take awhile to upload!

Update - That was quick!! Photos are there for your viewing pleasure. As you can see it seems the plan is to have the menu being displayed by TV screens which don't appear to be working just yet hence the board menus.

I didn't take a photo of the central seating area because a family were eating there and there is also a microwave I didn't take a photo of either.

Thanks for posting!! Interesting that it is now called Gasparilla Island Grill.

:santa:Merry Christmas everyone!!:santa:

I tried going through the thread, but I can't find an answer to this.... though I'm sure it's somewhere!

Would anyone know if the courtyard pool is going to be done before Memorial Day? We are booked at the GF June 1-8 :dance3: but I can't seem to find any updates on the courtyard pool.

So just for laughs, I did the live chat on Disneyworld.com.....they actually said to me "the courtyard pool is now open and there are no plans listed for any updates or construction". THis is me....:crazy2:. I said to her, have you seen any pictures, because it's like a big hole of dirt. Then she said "oh, yes, that's opening December 26". Holy cow. I'm pretty sure that's the LAST place to go for information! :rotfl:

I'm a bit confused, I think, as to all that's going on....we just want at least one of the pools to be open when we're there since it will be in June. If anyone knows, I would really appreciate any info.... thank you !!

Not seen anyone working on the courtyard pool since we arrived 5 days back!

Ate at Gaspies today - TV screens now working and they also give you a table number and bring your food to you table.

Did the pool workers just go on strike? :confused3. Seems so odd that they seemed to have abandoned ship. When you were there was the beach pool open? I'm okay as long as there's one pool open.

It looks like they've decorated Gaspies very nice....how was the food? Have they expanded the menu choices?

The beach pool IS open and being used. We were also told the courtyard pool should be open by early spring.

Hi Everyone! My first post ever! :) My inlaws are taking the whole family to Disney World and a Disney Cruise next Christmas. I jokingly said, "I've always wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian" and my MIL took it to heart and booked us at the GF! I'm soooo excited. I have always wanted to stay there . . . My question is, will the construction on the new DVC resort be finished by next Christmas? I would really love to not have to look at that, but I am sure it will be a wonderful trip even if there is construction.

Also, we have a theme park view room, do all theme park views have a good view of the fireworks and the castle or is that something we should request before or at check-in? Thanks!

I'm so excited for you we just got back a month ago and and we usually book TPV we have stayed in the Conch key or the Sago key they both have beautiful views of the castle and fireworks. So I would request either one. Have fun planning your trip,it is beautiful there at Christmas!

According to the announced schedule, the DVC building is supposed to be open by next Xmas. If its not open, the exterior should definitely be done at the very least. Plus, with a theme park view, you'll be facing the opposite direction. Enjoy!!
