A good cup of tea

I am a tea person, I don't drink coffee at all and hate nothing more than being given a cup of lukewarm water and tea bag to put in after the water is poured.

So what I'm looking for is - other than the GF's Afternoon Tea, does anyone know which restaurants serve a " real" cup of tea: a choice of tea bags, water in its own little pot (or at least poured after I put the bag in the cup) and decent cup? THANKS!!!!!!!!

Jiko and Narcoossee's both have press pots of loose tea, with tea menus--Jiko also brings you every possible accompaniment you could want (milk, white sugar cubes, raw sugar cubes, Splenda, Equal, honey, and lemon ... I think Narcoossee's does something similar but not exactly the same).

'Ohana serves water in its own pot that makes 2 cups, and the server brought us a choice of several different tea bags and then poured the water after my friend put the bag in her cup.

I know I have been offered a selection from a wooden box at both Cape May Cafe and 1900 Park Fare! I would not be suprised if this is fairly standard at the TS restaurants at resorts, and World Showcase, but anyone feel free to correct me!:flower3:

I don't know about a restaurant but in Animal Kingdom there is a great little 'hut' that serves a wonderful selection of teas. Royal Anandapur Tea Company.

It's on the other side of the trail from Yak and Yeti. It has a few little hidden seats if you head down towards the water. I could not find it on a map. I have to stop and get tea each time I go. I'm British so this is one place I can get a hot tea. Apart from that I am planning to bring my own electric tea kettle this year to boil water in my room so I can at least have a decent cuppa to start my day.

I'll be interested to see what other responses you get.

I am sure that there is a very large variety at Rose & Crown.

In addition to the restaurants that Tilly mentioned, I have had the same loose tea offered at Yachtsman Steakhouse and Flying Fish. I would think based on that, all of the signature dining restaurants offer the better tea selection. I first had the Harmony tea at Flying Fish several years ago and loved it sooo much, the waiter wrote down the name of the website: tealeaves.com so that I could shop for it at home.

Big Tea Fan!

I think I remember someon mentioning getting loose leaf tea at the Wave as well. Since I am a tea lover myself, I made a mental note of this.

Otherwise I want to second the recommendation of the tea stand in AK!! :goodvibes

Last trip I brought along a small electric teapot in my carryon. Apparently the coils looked menacing when it went through the xray machine. Just thought I'd warn ya!

For tea on the go, check out China's Joy of Tea stand. The only drinks I've had there are the alcoholic beverages :) but I'm sure they have a good selection of tea, too.

My DBFF brought hers on our trip last week, too. Besides tea, she used it to heat her DS4's pre-bedtime milk (just heated the water then held the little carton from the food court in the water for a few minutes).

I'm sorry the coils looked menacing! I actually had given the electric kettle to her as a gift a few years ago and had forgotten to have it shipped directly to her, so I flew with it when I gave it to her, also. But both those times were in the checked luggage.

Last time we were at AK, we had a cup of tea and I assume it was bought at that tea stand. We had just eaten lunch at Yak and Yeti, so we were in that neighborhood. It was called "Monk's Blend" and was fabulous. I am not one for flavored teas, but this was a very subtle and my husband and I loved it.
Since he didn't like AK at all, it's the one thing that he's looking forward to there our next trip. :goodvibes
Does anyone know if they sell packs of their teas there to take home? We've found something similar here, but it's not quite the same and I'd love to have some as a souvenir.

I also had a decent selection of tea bags at The Garden Grove in The Swan at breakfast. I tend to have the hot tea for breakfast, and the unsweetened iced tea for my dinners. ( I just hate coffee )

Thanks for all the info! We have 1900 Park Fair, Narcoossee's and Cape May already ADR'ed so I won't have to ask there, every where else, I'll just check before I order .

you can always get your own tea at the Tea Caddy (twinnings is soo good I have to stock up on the Herbal fusion lemon since I can't seem to get it ANYWHERE else in the US)

I also agree with the tea spot in AK near Yak&Yeti! Had my first cup of Rooibus tea and fell in love with it! They serve loose tea in a pouch, no prepackaged tea bags.
