a glimpse of the Pacific?

Three die hard Pennsylvanians are going to be passing through in August. We've never seen the Pacific. We've got only two days, and the hopes of as many comparisons to WDW as possible in that brief time... as is humanly possible! Beyond the speed tour of your parks, is there any public transportation available that could get us to a beach for just a peek at the shoreline and ocean? We've been rushed most of our lives. This is a pleasure and challenge that we are looking foreward to.

How are you getting to CA? Are you flying? If so what airport?

Yes, you should be albe to hop a bus to take in the beach. I am sure a local can give you much more info on this then I can.

Also, please do not "compare" WDW to DLR. They are completely different resorts with there own special magic.

With two days you will have barely enough time to get a quick overview of both parks. I would make sure to do your homework and make a list of your must do's for each park. If you can get the two park hopper ticket (they seem to be hit or miss) take advantage of being able to walk between the parks. My game plan is usually to hit DL at opening and then head over to DCA when it open (usually at least 1 - 2 hours after DL) tour DCA then head back to DL until closing time (again usually 1 - 2 hours after DCA).

Have a great time.

Public transportation in Southern California is a joke. :) Honestly, the only way to get to the beach from Anaheim in any sane amount of time is to rent a car and drive there or take a cab (expensive!).

We found driving in the Anaheim area very easy! Get the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2003,by Bob Sehlinger. It also has an area map page 29 that can take you right to the Beaches. You will need to find a Public Beach, though.

WebmasterMichelle knows what she's talking about. If you take the public buses, you better plan on an all day trip to get back and forth to get just a peek of the ocean.

It will take quite a while to get to the beach using public transportation. I've never actually done it, but I do know it's do able, just take forever, probably not worth your time. SNA and LAX are both close to the ocean, if you're flying during they day you might catch a glimse out the window.

Disnee Dad Says.................................Rent a car. You get there 5 times faster and can go where you want to. Try Venice Beach, a circus of a place if there ever was one. This is the place where the body builders work out by the ocean, or maybe you'll see the guy juggling a grape a bowling ball and a chain saw! It's in Santa Monica if I remember correctly, it's been many years.
