A glasses kinda question...

I'm doing the Half in January and already wondering what to do about my glasses. I know it will be dark when we start, so I will be wearing my regular glasses. However, when the sun comes up I will need to switch to my prescription sunglasses.

My run belt is not big enough for my eye glass case so does anyone have a recommendation for a run belt that has room for a case?

I know I can't be the only one in this situation, so what do others do?

TIA!

I wear my regular glasses and a visor. That way the sun stays out of my eyes and I don't have to worry about switching/ scratching up my glasses by changing them out.

I use bifocal sunglasses for this. Unfortunately because it is dark when this race starts my vision is really blurry. I can see however but nothing up close...but I know where the pop's are and I can walk with the crowds to my coral.
When the races begins it is still dark but I don't need glasses for it and then the sun rises shortly afterwards....

Otherwise, I would buy one of those extra packs that you can loop into your belt bag for your glasses. I bought an extra pack at an expo just to hold extra jelly bellies....

I no longer carry my phone because I am not going to call anyone or receive calls. I try to limit my carry on like on an airplane because it will become a nuisance after a while.

I take along my bifocal sunglasses in the dark, my little mp3 and a lot of jelly bellies.

I wear glasses and generally just use those for the half. It should only be 8 or 9 when you're done and that isn't too bad. I believe I have run once with glasses looped through a gel slot on a race belt--but it's not something I recommend. Visor idea is good

I now have a pair of Rudy Project glasses with interchangeable lenses and a prescription insert. But I wouldn't stop to switch out the lenses mid race.

I agree with Maura, it will still be quite early when you finish, and the sun doesn't rise until almost 7:30. I have a Flip Belt that would hold a glasses case. I've also worn glasses with transitions-type lenses (but way cheaper, from Zenni Optical) for a marathon that started in the dark but finished in the bright daylight along the water.

Are contacts an option? Starting to run was one of the things that pushed me out of glasses and into contacts. I was on the fence for a while and then started to run while living in FL. I think it was after my second outdoor run that I finally made the appointment because the annoyance of running in glasses was the final straw for me.

I'm in the same boat. I wear both pairs of glasses with a set of chums. I start in the regular glasses with my sunglasses around my neck. As soon as it gets sunny enough I put the regular glasses on top of my visor and wear the sunglasses. Contacts are not an option for me and this seems to work. I also recommend anti-fog stuff -- as recommended by other WISHers -- especially for those WDW races.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Contacts are not an option because I have scar tissue on the inside of my eyelids due to allergies. When I do triathlons a race official will hold my glasses and I grab them after my swim. It's a pain and I wish I could wear contacts, but that's a no go.

This winter when I do my morning runs on the weekends I will use my regular glasses to adjust to the brightness. I had PRK a few years ago and that made my eyes more light sensitive. I'm not a fast runner, 10 minute mile, but hopefully the sun won't be too bright when I finish.

Thanks again!

Maybe some clip on sunglass lenses like these or getting frames that come with magnetic clip on sunglass lenses like these.

I use a pair of transitions lenses for races like Disney. I was able to get a pair fairly inexpensively at Walmart.
