So - it is 6:30AM on Sunday - I glance over and noticed the time...think about how tired I am....think about the fact that today is the day that I can book that Specialty cruise....90 days out....Gosh...is it really worth getting out of bed???? It is sooo warm in here....and then the guilt sets in!

I crawl out of bed...cram my contacts in my eyes...stumble downstairs.

Okay, I have to get my wits about me. Where is that phone number?
What am I supposed to dial? 4 first? No 2 and then 1....no - aaaggghhhh!!! I should have gotten up earlier and drank some coffee!!!

AAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Kids are now up - TV is blaring - "Hey - turn that thing down!!!" Don't you understand that your mother is trying to get a reservation for something you'll thank me for?!! (Not!)

Ok - got the phone....got the number....have my DIS board instructions right in front of me....

5 minutes till 7:00! Start dialing.... Not open ..... Redial....

"Didn't I say, turn down that TV" ....what have I turned into ... the crazy mom !!!! It IS just a cruise, right?! But this is the one thing I've been waiting so long for!!!

Redial!

Still not open!

DH now waltzes into the kitchen wondering why I'm wide-eyed and frantically screaming at the volume of the TV!

DH says - what are you doing?
WHAT AM I DOING!!!! No time for small talk, bud! Leave me alone! I mumble something about that cruise I've been talking about for months!!

I dial again. He interupts, grabs HIS cell phone and says, "What is the number?" I think, "Yeah, right buddy - you have NO clue! You are non a DISer".

I get through....but hit that Welcome to Walt Disney Weather Line. NOOOOO!!!!

I dial again, DH calmly glances at the numbers I'm dialing.

I'm about to burst into tears when I hear him calmly begin talking to a CM.

No - don't you understand - NO SMALL TALK!!!! Oh if only I had coached him properly!!

He asks, "Shat should I say?" I yell, "SPECIALTY CRUISE - JUNE 4". Then he casually asks, " Gosh - I don't know - hey hon, what resort do we want to leave from?"

"WHAT RESORT??????" - I panic - ANY!!! JUST GET US ON A CRUISE!!!!!

In a blur - my DH, a non DISer....not schooled in any form of Specialy Cruise 101 class.....suddenly is writing down the reservation number! I can't form a sentence! I am stunned! He did it !!! He actually did it!!!! I begin to leap through the house. Children are wondering what's up with mom! DH is wondering what the big deal it.

Amazing. I kiss DH and tell him he is wonderful!

2 Morals of the story - panic is not the way to get a cruise ressie! And love thy husband!!!

And just in case you're wondering - we are full for our cruise. Sorry.

What a great story! And a good lesson to use both the cell phone and the land phone to double your chances of snagging the ressie. So glad you got your wish. It would have been a bummer to get up for NOTHING! Enjoy your cruise.

Oh, I also almost suffered a panic attack when I booked ours .. :rotfl: I went thru the same things.. It's too early, maybe I should stay in bed, but, then I decided that I was going back to sleep after I booked the cruise. I was so nervous that when I finally got thru and she asked for my name to book the cruise.. I was speechless..she had to ask for my name 3 times and I couldn't remember it .. :earboy2: Finally, I realized that, if, I remained speechless she would probably hang up thinking we got diconnected, so, I yelled out my name and she just laughed :teeth: . I could not go back to sleep after, my adrenaline was running at an all time high

By the way, Congratulations you just booked the Cinderella of the cruises :cheer2:

Proof that men don't have to buy diamonds or make millions to please their wives. They only have to show their desire to see their wives happy. :grouphug:

Sounds like you have a keeper.

We had the same experience with our Cindy's ps. I told my husband to wake me up before he left for work at 6:30am on 1/19 so I could call for the ps. I also printed out the instructions so that he could call from his cell phone while walking to the hospital (in the bitter January weather). Well I wake up at 7:45 that morning, thinking all was lost, that we'd have to try again the next day. Then I check my e-mail and there's a message from him with our confirmation number! I was so shocked as he totally didn't seem to get the big deal, calling at 6:55, etc. Of course, had I done it, I know I would have missed it or something!!

Congrats on your cruise!

You sound like me! Great story.

I was one of the first people through when AP rates came out and I accidently hung up on the CM. :confused3 THANK GODNESS she called me back instead of going on to the next guest. My husband looked at me like I was crazy when I got so upset when the phone went dead. I acted like someone had died, crying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

LOL! Great story! :rotfl:

Sometimes they are clueless. Glad you got your cruise!

I called to book ours this morning at 6 a.m. my time. Got through on the first call and was on hold for less than a minute. Got my Wishes cruise from the Contemporary just like I wanted. I was almost let down because of how easy it was. Sort of anticlimatic if you know what I mean. Unfortunately, DD was already gone to school because they left at 6 a.m. for a field trip and DH was still in bed so I had nobody to share my good news with. Maybe that's why there was really no excitement. :confused3 I'm sure I'll get more excited about it as time comes.

:rotfl: Great story!

Enjoy your cruise!!! :earsboy:

what specialty cruise? I feel like a beginner again! Something else to learn about. I loved the story, that's how I feel around DH. He doesn't understand how me and Suz (my best disney buddy) can talk about it all the time; he does't get it :confused3 .

There are different types of specialty cruises (b-day, anniv. etc) but the one you usually hear about here on the DIS are fireworks cruises for Wishes or Illuminations. There is a thread stuck to the top of the page that can give you complete information on the cruises. We did a Wishes cruise last year and are doing another one this year.
