I thought I would let everyone know that there is 1 less person our there to share our wonderful DVC resorts with ;) ! A friend of mine just returned and stayed at the BC and said that her room was decorated in an old fashion. She was not impressed. She was travelling with a group who also had a 2br villa and she explained that they had paid $300 a night for it (seems reasonable to me) and that it was a ridiculous waste of money. Guess they won't be going back! More chances that I can stay at BCV! Yee haw!

They also didn't experience any of the major attractions (or major in my mind, no mountains, ToT, etc.) and felt that the dining package was a mistake because they were forced to eat fast food.

Perhaps your "friend" was somewhat jealous of your ownership and needed a reason to justify not being able to afford it or not being able to talk her hubby into the DVC tour or membership?

I may be way off base, but from your comments, that was the first thing that popped into my mind.

Like you said, just more reservation room for the rest of us!

Tom

That is funny what your friend said, b/c I love BCV (I haven't stayed there, just the resort itself), but DH thinks it looks old fashioned too, like Mary Poppins style or something...

Sounds like a lack of information, not knowing:
  • How much deluxe rooms cost onsite.
  • How much villas cost a rack rate.
  • How the BC area is themed.
  • The need to make advance reservations at sit-down restaurants.
  • The major attractions at the parks.
  • How to count the fingers on one foot.
I'm reminded of our relatives who came back from a trip to Virginia complaining that there's nothing to do at Colonial Williamsburg. They walked down the main street once, didn't go into any buildings, didn't talk to any docents, didn't read any signs, got bored and went somewhere else. To this day, it's Williamsburg's fault that they didn't have a good time!

Oh, well, as you said, all the more fun for the rest of us.

$300 for a 2 BR villa at BCV? When I was traveling with Mom in May, a studio for her (she thought of getting her own) would have cost that much! Gee, I think Mom liked it-she certainly enjoyed the mango gelato! But like you, I love BCV, so less competition if someone doesn't like it!

People like different things, so it's not that big a deal if someone doesn't like BC/BCV. It would have been interesting to hear what kinds of things they did like though in order to compare and contrast their perception of good vs. bad.

HEY!
I paid big bucks to decorate my florida condo in that "old fashioned" beach cottage style!
My renters seem to love it...that's what they write in the guest book.
I guess ya can't please everyone.
It costs good money to look "old" :rotfl2:
