Day 3 – October 6
The Freak’s Day

Cast of Characters
DH = Hubby of Sound Mind - 31
Me = Freak – 30
Pal = Pal Mickey

YES YES YES! We went to the Magic Kingdom on this day. Now we’re talking! There is nothing like wandering up Main Street and viewing that castle with a CM holding bunches and bunches of balloons! And Pal was again a great companion to have along. As soon as we walked through the turnstiles, he jiggled and asked where we wanted to go with all of these options. By this time, we were talking to Pal like he was one of the family. We said “Tomorrowland”! and he led the way. Neither DH or I had ever been on that Alien Encounter thing, we decided to try it. I knew that it was to be closed soon so we should at least check it out. Highly disappointing, honestly. Maybe the new Stitch ride will be better. We then thought about getting a FP for Buzz Lightyear but the line was only about 20 minutes so we decided to wait. What a fun ride! I didn’t get a very high score, but DH was over 60,000. I thought that was pretty good. We did the obligatory Space Mountain ride (again, only about 20 minute wait) then we headed to Fantasyland. We got a FP for Winnie the Pooh and saw Mickey’s Philharmagic. This was GREAT!! Great 3-D effects and wonderful music from our favorite movies. Being the huge music fan that I am, I felt like this show was made just for me J We finished up Fantasyland with Small World and finally rode Pooh. Not so great – not worth the FP. But I’m sure kids love it.

Our next stop was to the Haunted Mansion, in which we were temporarily stuck (just before you go up to overlook of the dining room scene). Pal Mickey was a bit braver than me when some fun neighbor reached out from his doom buggy and scared me a bit (yup, I’m a freak and a scardy cat), but I laughed! We were on our way again shortly but a part of me wanted to be that 1000th ghost.

At this time, we remembered that we didn’t make a dinner PS yet. We always want to eat in the castle, so we walked over there to get a PS. NONE TO BE HAD!! I then called Guest Services from a pay phone and got PSs to Tony’s. A new one for us, so it was to be an adventure. We also decided to get a PS for dinner on Saturday night (our last night of the trip) in the castle. At that time, we had no idea of the surprise we were in for on Saturday night! As a side note, it was pretty cool to say to the cast member “we would like a PS since we’re in the world RIGHT NOW” :wave2:

After we wandered around a bit more, we tried a whip (strawberry and vanilla) and loved it! I had heard of the pineapple dole whip so I tried one later in the day. It was good, but not as good as the strawberry-vanilla swirl. The Pirates were fun pirate: , and the Jungle Cruise was as usual. It’s sort of a let-down after you do the AK’s safari, but a staple nonetheless. Even though Pal Mickey warned us to keep him dry, we finished up this area with Splash Mountain (my all-time fave) and left singing the song for the rest of the day. I kept Pal under my shirt just in case, but we all know that you don’t get soaked on this one.

We had a bit more time before our PS so we decided to go back to Tomorrowland and ride Buzz Lightyear again. This time, I scored over 107,000 points! Someone told me later that if you hit the right bad guy, you automatically get 100,000. Cool because I beat DH’s score - hehe! We used the rest of our time before dinner to wander around Main Street, which is still my favorite part of this park. We headed to Tony’s and settled down for dinner. It was pretty noisy and the food was so-so. I suppose we expected a great italian meal, not a theme park italian meal. It was an experience, but I don’t think we will go there again. Our meal was fairly quick and ended in time to see Fantasy in the Sky and what could be better than ending a day on Main Street, staring at the castle and seeing the fireworks overhead?
:hyper:

Nothing is better than seeing the fireworks over the Castle. I've never eaten at Tony's, I may never if the food is only so-so.

Thanks for telling us about your special day at MK!

We have a PS for lunch at Tony's next month (NEXT MONTH YEA) and we're still back and forth on if we will go. Thanks again for posting.

Please.....where did you get the strawberry vanilla thing?? My DH hates the dole whips but he really loves strawberry.

I would also like to know...I am not a big fan of the pineapple one but the strawberry one sounds great. Love your reports!

The Pooh ride will become much more endearing to you when you have kids. The joy on my little kids faces was priceless.::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo pirate:

It sounds like you are having a great time. Looking forward to the next day. :earsgirl:

Anne60 and corky805, DH got the stawberry/vanilla thing in Fantasyland at the Enchanted Grove (right across the way from the Starlight Cafe). I'm sure you will enjoy!
