I have a silly question. I was just wondering if Soarin' has a foot rest during the ride.....or does your feet just dangle in the air???? Also, how long does the ride last? Thanks

Nope, no foot rest, so your feet are dangling the whole ride (kinda adds to the whole effect though ;) ) but there is a place to put any loose belongings, including flipflops! I would say the ride lasts no more than 5 minutes...probably less. May seem short for the length of the standby line, but honestly, if it was any longer imagine the wait time then! :earseek:

Your feet just dangle. That's the reason to leave flip flops on the floor when you sit down. You don't want them to drop off during the flight. May guess is that it's about 5 minutes long, but I'm not a real good judge. But it is fabulous! :goodvibes

My favorite ride in WDW now !! :Pinkbounc I can't wait to get back on this ride. YOur feet do dangle. You can leave your shoes on the floor as someone else metioned because you are set down at the exact same place you left. You also can put your belongings in a net under your chair. My 7yo was small enough he just sat crossed legged on the ride !!

As for the length - we rode it three times last month and I timed it ! Type A or what! :rotfl:
Anyway, from the time the machine lifted up til the time we started back down was 4 and a half minutes, give or take a few seconds for me to actualy find and hit the button on my watch! I did the timing after the first time, because we thought it was so quick a ride! Fabulous ride, don't get me wrong but it seemed so quick! :wave2:

Be sure to lift your feet when you go over the waves! ;)
This is an awesome ride, possibly the best ever!
Enjoy :sunny:

Haven't rode in WDW, but did in DL. Feet dangle, and there's one part where it feels like your feet are going to cut off the tops of some trees. :goodvibes

That's one of the best features of Soarin'....the feet dangling! We love this ride so much we've done it more than 10 times in just a few visits. And every time my DS and I have to lift our feet and throw our hands up (like we're soarin'!!) every time we go over the trees or the waves.

It's a beautiful ride. Truly one of Disney's best.

could you discribe what the actual thing you sit in is like...someone mentioned if you aren't in the front row you see people's legs in you vision so i am trying to figure out what that would be like...the picture on the dvd looks kind of like a hang glider but is just 1 row of seats so how many are hooked together or how to you see other's leg( a year to go and i'm already trying to figure out where to sit talk about type a  )

I'm sure someone can describe it better than I can, but imagine when you enter the room you see 3 long rows of seats; one toward the front, one in the middle, one near the back door where you just entered. They all have plenty of space between each row to move down the row, turn around, put your stuff in the mesh basket beneath your seat, and get comfortable. BUT....all 3 rows are hooked together on a giant machine above the seats, and the seats are suspended rather than fixed to the floor.

When you are all seated and the show begins, the lights go out (mostly) and your seats begin to move forward and rise up. The front row rises all the way to the top, the middle row (obviously) is in the middle, and the back row is nearest the floor. Think of the way a ferris wheel rises...one car sort of swings up over the one below it. But in this case it's whole rows together, rather than individual seats.

Now....imagine there are 3 sets of these machines, one next to the other. So, 3 sets of 3 rows.

Once you are up in your Soarin' position, those at the top can see an outline of the top of the screen you are all watching, those in the middle have a view of the top row's feet if they look up, and those nearest the floor can see the feet of the middle row. You won't necessarily notice because you'll be looking at the screen, but they're right there if you do look up.

Get it?

No?

Try the ride. It's fabulous! :teeth:
