My DW Theresly has just finished her first ever scrapbook.

I have scanned in the pages and you can have a look at them here www.disney.2ya.com

As this is her first ever book shes would like to know if there are any improvements she can make to her technique for future books.

I think you did a wonderful job! I'm still working on mine from April (as well as books from our previous trips).

Would you post more pages when you have time?

I think her pages look great! A lot of new scrapbookers (myself included) go overboard on stickers when they first start, which can take the emphasis off of the pictures (the reason you're doing the scrapbook in the first place). But your wife keeps the focus on the great pictures, and it makes the pages easy and fun to look at. The only thing I would add is more journaling. It feels kind of awkward at first, but later you'll really appreciate reading the descriptions later. I think it's cute when the kids' point of view is reflected in the journaling. That great picture of your daughter watching the ducks could be accompanied by her memories of that event. Fantasic job!

Shes agrees with you that she needs more journalling. But she only got into scrapbooking after the holiday, and didn't take any notes.

Theres always next time :)

Any pointers to help with journalling would be appreciated.

This album is only 8 1/2" x 11" so she felt short of space for much journalling.

Thanks so far

I changed from an 8 1/2 x 11 to a 12 x 12 album for the same reason - I felt I barely had room for my pictures much less journaling. I still have a hard time with journaling. I think she did great on her albums!

Hi Simon

Say Congratulations to Theresly from me on a superb album - what a lovely first album, and such terrific photo's.

Could you post a link to here on the UKCB and head it up Scrapbooking Group - I am sure that not all of the group make it here and it would be lovely for everyone to see it :)

I havent put too much journalling on my albums yet as I am working on photo's of my children when they were small and I am having trouble remembering everything - so a good pointer to start off with is: Who, When, Where and Why? At least with this basic info you'll have some sort of record of the occassion.

Also..... I think a lot of pictures sometimes speak louder than words, especially in action pictures. I think your pictures in the water parks and on the roller coasters are fab.

Thanks for sharing - hope to see more soon.

The album looks great! I enjoyed looking thru all the pages! What was used for the titles?
Will you be posting more?

Those were really great! I agree she needs more journaling - but other then that I think she did a terrific job.

These are great. Thanks for sharing.

I too am not very good at journaling I don't care for my handwriting whether it be printing or penmanship.

Those are very nice pages! I'm especially fond of the Animal Kingdom layout. She did an excellent job! :)

looks great! I love the pooh pages! :D maggie

Smax wife here. Thank you for all the encouragement. I like the idea of asking the kids their feelings to journal. Will try to remember to carry a small notebook around with me. By the way i have been reading the threads for a little while and really appreciate all your tips and ideas.

I just looked at your album. It looks great.

My weakest link is my journaling. I am a very poor speller. I have to run everything through the spell check before I even think of writing it in my albums. Consequently, I build all my pages with a journaling box so that I can go back later and journal.

Outstanding job on a great album. You should be very proud. As a seasoned scrapper (5+ years) I look back at my first few layouts and I only wish mine were near this great. Keep up the good work.

YOUR PAGES LOOK GREAT111

You should be very proud of what you accomplished with your very first attempt at scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is a craft of the imagination and of the heart. It is meant to preserve and record memories and pictures of your life and fun family times as well as times of family sorrows. There are no right or wrong ways to put together a scrapbook as it is a very personal expression of ones feelings about ones life. So keep up the good work and continue saving all those special moments for future years to come. Your grandchildren will love to be able to sit down on the couch and look thru your "scrapbooks" with you in the years to come.

Thanks for sharing your first scrapbooking adventure - nice job! I recently started scrapbooking & am always interested to see what other people do with their pages.

You did a great job on your first scrapbook! I really enjoyed looking at your pages! Keep up the great work!

Wow, I think for a first time scrapbooker your pages are really impressive. Not that I'm speaking from experience here as I'm just getting into it myself, but have looked at lots of sites with examples, and comparitively, I think your's are very good. Thanks for the Disney inspiration.
