Johnny - Josh has good taste if he enjoys the Florida Mall! Josh sounds so like my nephew Adam - he came to our Disney wedding back in 2000. We had a lot of cm's ask why he was still in a pram - it is so annoying, 5 years later he has come a long way! he does not like characters or crowds but hey - who like crowds! He is 8 now and things are so diffrerent Hope it gets better for you!

so sorry to hear that your trip is not as good as expected due to the heat.

Have you thought about going at Easter? In 2008 our schools in our local boroughs are taking two weeks a few weeks after the actual Easter break. This would be good news as the USA Easter holidays would be over and may be quieter with weather that is not so hot. Do you know what your wife's school is doing?

We will be going next August. What has the rainfall been like so far?

Hope things get a lot better as Josh's sleep pattens settle down.

The CM deserves a good punch somewhere unmentionable, I am amazed that someone could be so insensitive,

It sounds as if things are getting better now that you are at the Villa, and the heat is enough to get anyone into a meltdown.

I truly hope that you enjoy the rest of your stay.. You are truly raising a child with style - the Florida Mall and The Saratoga - what a boy

Oh JOhnny, my heart goes out to you, I think you're amazing for undertaking such a trip each year anyway and I'm sorry to hear that Joshua can't make the best of things at the moment. I really hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and you all find the weather a bit more sympathetic.
just a suggestion, could you try a two week at easter next time? to try and combat the worse heat?

Thanks Deb, to be honest it's not all negatives, we have always said that Josh is priority and as long as he is happy we are fine...it's just I guess we are a bit restricted with certain things, would love an evening at Raglan Road or to be able to go to a Character Breakfast etc - just Josh got so upset when we parked up at Golden Corral we didn't want to stress him more....we have been many many times to Orlando and Josh has too but I guess with the heat factor also there is maybe a hint of 'Orlando Overload' I think and at times we are struggling to do the things we really want, go out in the evening etc and being in a villa means I either go out alone or stay in.

No worries - I have a great tan anyway

Plus the shopping has been great, Josh loves the Florida Mall....

I would just like to echo the sentiments of everyone else on here and wish you all well.
I am sure you are making the best of it and as someone else said we are all very jealous of you. I cant go back until next August myself.

Just to confirm you are having more fun than me, I have just had a flexible cystoscopy (aint goin into details - if you're curious you will have to google it mate!) suffice to say I would rather be in a Florida Villa.

Sorry to hear about your problems Johnny. Rest assured you are probably still better off there the weather here has been atrocious (torrential rain for the last week) Glad you reported that CM he deserved a smack in the mouth Hope Josh gets more settled soon. That Florida heat does take it's toll. My DS got so hot at Seaworld a couple of Summers ago that he had a full blown screaming fit while sitting in the dolphin stadium (he was about 8 at the time) it was packed and he got so loud practically everybody in there turned to look at him. I've never left anywhere so fast. He pretty much refuses to go back in Summer no matter what I try to bribe him with hence our last and next trips are at Christmas

Just want to echo every one else' sentiments. Sorry the first part of your trip hasn't gone as well as normal, and I hope the rest improves for you. With luck, your Josh will settle into a better sleeping pattern and get better used to the weather.

I makes me so mad when anyone thinks they have the right to comment on the way a person raises their child. Glad you reported that CM - some people need to realise how rude and offensive they are.

Glad the villa and shopping have gone well. Continue enjoying the pool, and taking things at a pace that's right for your family. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time there.

Just got back from Lanzarote early this morning , so this is the first thing I had to do check the dis boards and catch up.
You have been very helpful to me in the past helping with questions etc so I was eager to read your post.
I really hope Josh and yourselfs are enjoying your time at the Villa and that things have settled down a bit.
My girls are the same they love the pools and boy do they love to shop they would love Josh.

Hi everyone,
Just logging on from an Internet Cafe at LBV Factory Stores.
Good news, Liverpool won 2-1!!!

I am touched by all the replies, we are lucky to be able to come to Florida every year so I am very fortunate and have had loads of great holidays.
Ultimately I guess we just try and vary it , it just seems this holiday is very similar to last Augusts, not that I am naive about the weather and the fact we are lucky to come each year when many people cannot.

I think overall there have just been a number of minor problems this time, Josh has been far happier indoors especially at the villa however he has just not been interested in many of his favourite rides which has us puzzled.
The picture below was taken at Barneys indoor playground at Universal, he didn't want to go in last week and has only ridden Woody Woodpecker once, hasnt gone on Goofy's Barnstormer at all yet either.....as for the restaraunts it's hardly surprising he doesn't want to go in any as we rarely eat out at home.

In addition 17 nights at the villa has just been too long for me, whilst I have no social life at home (by choice mainly), I like to go out in the evening whilst on holiday, with a nice tan & one of my many Tommy Bahama shirts on, hence whilst Indian Creek is an ideal place to stay I think for future we really need somewhere with some sort of entertainment etc, possible Terre Verde....

The weather earlier on the holiday was much sunnier, generally mid 90s every day and whilst it is still very hot it has been very cloudy most of the time , the odd afternoon storm but generally not a lot of rainfall.
We have pushed Joshua more as the holiday as gone on and managed evenings out at EPCOT & MGM.

We have booked for July next year, but as others have said and we have already considered moving to Easter 2008, just with Julie being a teacher the summertime is the logical time to come.
Certainly we have a lot of thinking to do for next time, Saratoga Springs and a villa with some sort of entertanment is definitely the main thinking, maybe with a week at the beach.

I have recovered from the fall now and Josh is really happy so that's the main thing.

One thing petrol prices have shot up - the cheapest I have seen are the HESS & CITGO stations on the 535 opposite LBV Factory, they are $2.81 & 2.82.

Can recommend this place 'World Of Coffee' at LBV for internet access.
