A Few ???'s About POR

I have a few questions about POR that I am hoping someone can help me with. I tried to read through the POR FAQ, but it was started in 2003ish and has a lot of outdated info to read through as well as info on POFQ to weed through. My questions are:

1) Are there microwaves that you can request for your room? Or are the only ones available to guests in the food court still?

2) If the only microwaves guests can use are in the food court, how late/early do you have access to them?

3) We paid for a water view room with request in for river view. We want to stay in the mansions. Are they any specific rooms we should ask for at check in to see if they are available?

1)not sure. I though there were - but someone said no. - the food court is not too far.

2) think the bakery opens at 6:30am and pizza deliver is til midnight - but always ask when you are there.

3) water views at POR - can be the stream - but also pool, water fountains - anything with water - and POR has a lot of water not near the stream. So will never ask for another water view here. It just doesn't work. that say the standard room might get you in the middle of your building - so you are just as close to the food court as the buses. found the middle of your building was best at POR - especially if there is bus stop behind you - Magnolia Terrace (building 85)

1) I've heard no microwaves available from the room.

2) There are one or two in the food court you can use. The food court is open long hours (like a pp said, I think 6 am-midnight). In addition, it's possible they leave the food court unlocked even when it's "closed" so people can have access to the drinks for their re-fillable mugs. Plus the food court is connected via a long hall-way to the lobby/check-in area, so they might just leave that whole are open all the time.

3) I wouldn't pay extra for a water view room, especially the way the rooms at POR are set up with the balconies. In order to enjoy your water view, you'd have to have your curtains open--and that's not something I would want to do with people walking by. It's not worth the extra $$, IMO. As for getting the mansions, I think all you can do is request it on your reservations.
