Just back from a week at the BCV. Started off on a good note, got my actual DDE card in the mail 5 minutes before we left for the airport. :goodvibes 2-5 adults.

Big River Grill- wanted something close after check in. Too cold to eat outside with the wind. This was pretty good, had the meatloaf, DW a burger both quite nice. Extremely friendly waiter, would do this again.

Spoodles- breakfast here was very good. DDE

Columbia Harbor House- Tried to get into LTT and no chance. Think we all had the Tuna sandwhiches and chowder. Not bad.

Mama Melroses- This was OK. Nothing really stood out, not sure if i would be in a hurry to go back. DDE

Earl of Sandwich- We all really liked this for lunch. Nice quality and quick.

Rose and Crown- This was our only prior PS for Illuminations. We were worried about our 7:30 res, got there 15 minutes early but didn't get seated until 8:15. Ended up outside on the water to the farthest left, super view only down side was wind blowing smoke and debris but we all said it was worth it. Had Gemma and she was great and funny. Food was very good also, would go there again even without Illuminations. DDE

Kona- Breakfast This was pretty good, and it was nice to walk around the Poly afterwards. Did have the Tonga and it was good. Overall it wasn't super, or maybe i was just expecting something different. Coffee was great though DDE

Jiko- Wow, this was really great. DW got the Filet Mignon and it was a really super cut. She also got the tomato salad. I had the cheese plate to start which was nice and while i really wanted the filet also, opted for the pomegranate glazed quails just for a different experience. I also thought my DW would share more of hers stupid me. Mine was great too though. Pistachio Creme brulee and flourless chocolate cake for desert. Service was great also, he told me to use my hands to eat if i wanted "this is Disney after all so have fun". On the definite do over list. DDE

Thanks for the reviews. I'm thinking of Earl Of Sandwich for a quick lunch for out trip in November. Unfortunatley, the Festival of the Masters Art Fair will be there and I'm afraid it might actually be better and faster to make a PS somewhere as the lines might be long.

We tried Kona too last time after hearing about Tonga Toast. It was a little too sweet for my taste. But like you said, enjoyable.

We disagree on Jiko, I really liked the food there, but was sicker than a dog for the rest of the night. Probably me not them, but well, I don't think we'll be hitting that one again.

We enjoy Big River also. At Christmas they have a special "holiday brew" which is fun. We heard allot about the meatloaf and tried it. What HUGE portions, and DH really did not care for it, but my chicken was delicious, as were the hamburgers and fries we've had there before.

Thanks again, great review.

Enjoyed the reviews. Just wondering-how were you (and other diners) dressed that evening?

Thank you for taking the time to write the reviews. I'm happy to see that you visited a few of our favorites and that all is well. :)

Hi Uncle, not sure which evening you were asking about but assuming you were talking about Jiko's. We dressed up and had come from a carriage ride in PO. DW in her black dress, me dress pants and shoes and button down dress shirt.

Most of the others here were dressed the same, 70% with 15% on both ends better (jackets) and worse (shorts and tee shirts). There were a number of well behaved children here this night, who i was proud of and happy to have there.

For your reviews, sorry you didn't have a better experience at Mama Melrose's.Which is one our favorites on our trips to MGM. :goodvibes :wave2:

Enjoyed your reviews.

What did you try at Mama Melrose, do you remember? We've enjoyed our lunches there very much but seem to order the same things over and over.

I think Tonga Toast is one of those things that raise expectations maybe a little too high. So many of us are fans of it but it is something that I probably wouldn't order anywhere but the Polynesian. But it evokes so many memories that I just can't pass it up!

I think Tonga Toast is one of those things that raise expectations maybe a little too high.

MM- Baked Cheese, caesar salad, Mozzarella tomato salad, peperoni flatbread, eggplant napoleon, Spicy sausage rigatoni, and the steak. I got to sample most of them. Again it's not that anything was bad, they just seemed to be lacking something to finish them or lacking the wow factor like Palio's did. This would be my number two though at MGM after Brown Derby.

Tonga Toast was also good, i think though i was expecting something closer to the French Toast loaf of MK Bakery or monkey bread. hmmm....soak it in heavy cream, add a few sticks of butter, macadamia nuts and bake and i bet you'd really have something. but that's just me :teeth:
