A few questions

Hello all,

I am getting so excited about our trip. It will be myself, hubby, our 8 year old and my parents (4 adults 1 child). What is the best deal for transportation to and from the airport? I know Mears is a favorite here just wanted to know if that was the best option. We may end up renting a car, haven't decided yet, we will arrive November 26th and leave December 1st.

The opinions are divided on this issue, but we always rent a car. You can find lots of information on the best deals on the Transportation board. I have found that renting a car is not that much more than a shuttle or limosine. The benefits of having a car handy at all times is well worth it to us. Relying on the busses or other WDW transportation is time consuming and can be a hassle, esp. for trips to DD or other resorts.

We also rented a car during our last trip. We were able to get a great rate that was less than Mears, Taxi or Limo service if we included tip. After figuring in gas and parking fees at the parks, I figure it cost about $10 per day extra. If you are staying at one of the on property resorts, I believe the $8 parking is waived at the parks, so you'd save even more.

Since we were staying at DTD and going back and forth at least once per day (usually more with naps, etc) this was a bargain for the time we saved. Not only that, but at the end of the night, we were able to leave just a few minutes before the fireworks and missed the long wait for transportation.

I'm a little surprised at your comment about Mears being a favorite here. I actually got the impression from reading the boards that it is much more economical and all around easier to get a limo service, especially if you have a group of 4 or more.
