Hello all. Another first timer to DL/ CA area here. My questions are:
1. To get a City Pass do you have to stay at a DL hotel?(In description it says 3 day Disneyland Resort Park hopper bonus tix)
2. How far is it to Legoland from DL?
3. What beaches are close around DL that is good for a family to go to?
4. What hotel across from DL should I consider getting of there is going to 5-6 of us going(2 adults and 4 kids if we let DS13 take a freind)I like to have some space for them to stretch out and not be on top of each other. Clean and reasonably priced is a must. We are not going until June of 08 so I still have some time but need to start looking at these kind of things. As always, I need to be budget cautious. Thanks for any help you can give. We have been to DW but DL is a whole new ball game for me so any help would be great!

No. You do not have to stay at any hotel, Disney or otherwise.

2. How far is it to Legoland from DL?
Far is easier to answer. It is 50 miles or so. The real question is how long it will take, and that depends on what time of day. Anywhere from an hour to 2+ hours

3. What beaches are close around DL that is good for a family to go to?
Newport and Huntington. I would recommend Newport.

That is a hard one. I was going to suggest BWPPI mini-suites until you said you wanted more space. The suites there have two queens and a rollout queen, and we stayed there a few times with our family of six. It is not super spacious but it works and is reasonably priced. Plus it is the closest hotel to DLR besides the GCH.
