Hi Everyone!

Back in Sept. we bought points from someone on this board for a stay at OKW from Jan. 12th to Jan. 22nd. I paid him upfront, and he sent me the contract and confirmation letter from DVC confirming the reservation. It is myself, husband, and our 13 year old son. We decided to suprise my brother and take him with us for his Christmas present, so I called OKW the other day to add him to our reservation. When I gave them our reservation number from the DVC letter, they said they had no record of it, so I would have to call the DVC. I proceeded to do this, (which I was told they were not suppose to talk to me because I was not the DVC member) but the lady did confirm the reservation for me and said it was in my hubbys name. Can someone explain how this works :confused3 How does OKW not have my dates in their system? And will they when we arrive to check in at OKW? I am really stressing about this. Also, she said they only have my hubby on the reservation, and that I will have to have the DVC member call and add me, my son and brother.... The problem is, I am having problems getting ahold of him. Is this that big of a deal? Or when we check in can us three be added?

Also.... Sorry so many questions! Our flight is not coming in until 8pm, so we will not check in until after 9pm, does this mean we will get one of the less pleasent rooms without a good view or by a pool?

THANKS everyone who responds, and sorry again for so many questions!

Your reservation is in the DVC Member Services computer system. It doesn't download to OKW until a few days before your arrival date, so that's why they have no record of your reservation right now. It works the same way at the non-DVC resorts....if you had made a reservation at Pop Century, the resort wouldn't know anything about your reservation this far in advance of your trip.

Member Services will no longer take calls from non-members. Even though your husband's name is on the reservation, the member you rented from 'owns' the reservation and is the only one who can make changes to it. You will need to have the member call MS to add you, your son and brother to the reservation. If you can't get in touch with him, I don't think it would be a major problem if you waited till you got to check-in to add the names, since you're still under the maximum occupancy.

I think you will need to wait until about 4 days before check-in before OKW will have your info. I guess you can add extra people to your reservation at that point- but am not positive. If you can get a hold of the guy you rented the points from he could add your brother for you. He would be the only one who could modify the reservation at this point as DVC mem. serv. will only speak to actual members now.

Ok, that makes sense then! :thumbsup2 I have tried getting ahold of him though, but maybe he is away for the holidays. How about not being able to check in until about 9pm or so? I would like first floor, and I am afraid checking in so late since I flight comes in late, we will end up with no view, and second or third floor  I am trying to talk my hubby into joining DVC, so I want to make it as magical of a trip as possible! :wizard:

The only concern with this is the DDP and Magical Express... For DDP, his name needs to be on the reservation 24 hours before you check in... For Magical Express, he needs to get on the reservation ASAP so he can get his luggage tags..

This would be a problem with any Disney reservation, not just DVC... The late check in isn't a problem.. Just have the member put that on the reservation that you will be coming in late... (You could also call OKW on the day of check in and do this yourself..)

Getting the room request might be a bit more difficult with late check-in.. As you would expect, the more popular floors and buildings generally get taken by those checking in early... You can make a "request" via the member or through the room controller, but that is all that it is considered.. "a request", not a guarantee... Again, this is not just a DVC thing, it's WDW wide.. The only way I think you could get a guaranteed 1st floor would be if you said you wanted a handicap room... And trust me.. You do not want that... No whirlpool bathtub, and table heights are adjusted... :scared1:
