We are going on our first DL visit in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone had tips/recommendations on the best spots to watch the parades and the fireworks? Also, how far in advance do we need to get a spot for those events? Thanks.

For parade, pretty much anywhere along the route is a good option. If you can, I would avoid the places with the route bends and you'd end up on the inside of the curve. For example, if the parade is going from IaSW to MS, I would try to be on the left side of the walkway (when facing IaSW) if you're up at IaSW. I like watching on Main Street, but the view is good everywhere. I would probably aim to be there 45-60 minutes early if you want front row seat. If you don't mind standing and being further back, you can probably wait until 30-45 minutes, but give that you're going during the summer crowds, I would get there early.

In terms of the fireworks, you can see it from lots of spots in Disneyland, but the most popular seem to be Main Street or Small World Mall. I like being on Main Street, just beyond the Camera Shop (so between the Partner's Statue and the end of MS). I aim to get there about 45 minutes before the show starts, but if the crowds are high, I would plan to be there earlier (1 hour). Just remember, they make everyone stand up before the show starts. The prime viewing spots (such as the ones right in front of the castle) will start filling up hours before the show starts.
