A few questions about parks

We are heading to WDW next saturday (feb 5) and it is our first time.

We are planning to go to MGM on Monday and had planned to stay for the fireworks but now I see the nighttime parade at MK is on that day and not the days we are going to MK (wed and fri). Do we skip the fireworks at MGM or do we go to MK?

Also wanted to ask about Animal Kingdom - I don't see as much posted about this park - is it not very good? We are planning to go to AK on Thursday and be there when it opens. My daughter wants to finish the day with the parade and the ride you get soaked on. Will this park keep us busy that long?

Friday the park is open at MK till 9pm. We have a character breakfast booked for 8am (Crystal Palace) and then thought we should leave and come back later - maybe let the kids to the cooking class at GF. If this is our second day at MK will we want to stick around for the morning and then take a break coming back later in the afternoon - or is there so much to see that we will just want to stay?

Thanks for any insight.

Helen

#1 - do not skip Fantasmic at MGM AND do not miss Spectromagic at MK....
what days are you going? Is there another night that SPectro is running during your trip? You could always make it over to MK for Spectro after your AK day, that park closes early (dusk)

#2 are you planning more than 1 day at MK...hard to see everything at an enjoyable pace if you plan on taking an afternoon off...and not go another day...

if you give us a few more details we could possibly help a little more..dates of your trip and ages of children...

we often find that Spectro is running the first night we get there and will often go to MK 1st afternoon/evening and stay for WISHES and Spectro...great way to start the trip.....we usually hit MK 2-3 days with mid-day breaks....if it is your first trip i would suggest you give every park a try and try to get to all parades and fireworks ! :)

Do we skip the fireworks at MGM or do we go to MK? There aren't really any "fireworks" at MGM. MGM has Fantasmic! which does have fireworks, but it is more of a show with characters, video from disney movies, etc. It is a great show...usually draws a big crowd, which requires you waiting in line early to get a good seat or using the Fantasmic! dinner package. Spectromagic at MK is a really great parade. IMO, I would go to Spectromagic and Wishes at MK. Fantasmic is held every night at MGM...maybe you could catch it another night?

Also wanted to ask about Animal Kingdom - I don't see as much posted about this park - is it not very good? We are planning to go to AK on Thursday and be there when it opens. My daughter wants to finish the day with the parade and the ride you get soaked on. Will this park keep us busy that long? A lot of people don't like AK, but we LOVE it. Most people say it's a half day park, but I disagree. There's lots to do at AK...I could spend ours along the walking paths to watch the animals. AK has a couple of good shows (Don't miss Festival of the lion King). I don't know how old your daugther is, but there is a neat play area in dinoland. The parade at AK is a great one...my personal favorite. I think you could easily fill your day at AK.

There is a lot to do and see at MK. Since it is open so late that day and it will be your second day at MK, I think a break for the kids would probably be great. I've heard great things about the cooking class at the GF so I'm sure they'd enjoy that!

It sounds like you have a good plan of action. While the parades at MK are great, don't miss Fantasmic at MGM. It is spectacular! You can always go back to that park after AK but try not to miss it. it is way more than just fireworks.

Forgot to mention that we have a PS for MK on friday - 8am. Also the kids would enjoy the Unbirthday TeaParty at GrandFloridian which is not until around 1pm - the cooking is at 10pm. Or do we just forget about doing this stuff or do another day?

I was posting at the same time as all of you - thanks for the great suggestions. I think I will see if going over to MK for the parade will work on the Monday - and then on the Wed when we are at MK we can leave and go over to MGM for Fantasmic.

I will do a search for the fantasmic dinner - if it isn't already fully booked.

Thanks!
Helen

Just looking at our week - for those of your experienced - what if we went from epcot over to MGM to see their light show and passed on the epcot show? That is the only night I can see being able to get back to MGM if we go to MK on the monday and miss the MGM light show.

If you had to pick between MGM and Epcot- which would you pick?
