A few questions about Beaches and Cream

I've been drooling over the desserts at Beaches and Cream and have a few questions.

1. Is it easy to get there from Epcot? We have a pretty short morning planned at Epcot and I thought we could go there in the early afternoon for some ice cream. OLP website says it's a 6 minute walk to the resort and a 20 minute boat ride. With three little kids I'm thinking the boat would be nice, but would consider the walk too if it's really not that long. How would we get there walking and where would we catch the boat?

2. Are there any kid size desserts? I didn't see a separate kid's menu. My kids won't eat much and I hate to waste. They really won't want to share either. I see a single scoop ice cream cone on the list that we could probably go with, though I can just see that dripping all over. I guess we could ask them to put it in a dish instead? I'm just wondering if they have anything more fun like a kid size sundae with sprinkles?

3. Do they allow substitutions or additions? The brownie sundae looks awesome, but I would like carmel instead of fudge. Will they do that?

4. Lastly, is it worth the trip or is there something similar or just as good right at Epcot?

Thanks!

I can answer on how to get there. You would go out through the International Gateway, just after the United Kingdom and before the bridge to France. You can either walk from the gate (my recommendation, it's a short walk to the Beach Club) or catch the boat from there.

Beaches & Cream is almost smack in the middle between the Beach Club and Yacht Club.

As for whether it's worth it from Epcot...it sounds like you're really interested in going, so yeah, why not? It is a fun spot for yummy desserts, and if you've never seen YC/BC, it's worth checking out.

We always get the fudge mud slide when we go. But I think I remember seeing pictures of a kids sundae that looks kind of like a Mickey? It has an ice cream scoop and then maybe 2 oreos for ears and cherries or something for eyes??

Thank you so much! I'm glad it really is a short walk. I think we'll definitely check it out. Plus I'd like to see the resorts... maybe we'll stay there next time.

The Mickey Mouse ice cream sounds PERFECT!! Can anyone confirm that they sell them at Beaches and Cream? My kids love oreos and we're on the lookout for hidden Mickey's this trip... though I guess it won't be so hidden.

It really is that short a walk. (5 min. tops) I wouldn't wait for the boat--B and C doesn't take ADRs so the wait for a table may be a while. (but they give you a pager and the BC/YC arcade is right there for your kids) If you can get there right at opening (I think 11am) it would be best.

Anyway, we love it here! (We've stayed at the BC our last two trips and always eat here at least once.) We even walked over on our Epcot evening one trip and then went back for Illuminations.

To answer your question, there is a kids menu here and the Mickey head ice cream is the dessert--all kids meals come with a dessert. I think there is one other choice as well (maybe a single scoop in a cone or dish? maybe cookies and milk? sorry, I don't remember.) My kids got the Mickey Head ice cream and loved it.

I believe they do substitutions to "grown up" sundaes, too, if you are seated in the restaurant. If you order at the walk up window, I'm not sure that they do, but I've read trip reports of people who made changes to the "kitchen sink" sundae. We've always had great service here!

Have a fun trip! I think you'll all be pleased with Beaches and Cream!

eta: They also have sprinkles. One of my kids just asked for ice cream in a dish with sprinkles and I know they had that. They may have even asked if they wanted colored or chocolate sprinkles. It really is a cute place with really nice CMs.
