A few online check in questions...

I was working on our online check in for POR, and it gave me the option to "opt out" of new magic bands (I assume because we were there a year and a half ago?) and said "Opting out of your new MagicBand may allow you to go directly to your room upon arrival. Just remember to bring an active MagicBand with you." Does this mean that if we do request new magic bands (the kids have new favorite colors now, of course! :) we will have to check in at the desk?

I also am struggling with whether to enter any requests on the drop down room request menu. I had my TA make several requests when she initially made our reservation, but it makes me a little nervous that I can't visually view these requests anywhere. :) I will also send a fax a week prior to the trip. I feel like I want to cover all my bases by also using the drop downs on the online check in to reiterate the requests that would be the same as several of those on my fax and my TA's phone request, but I have read some people feel that the online requests would "override" any others I have made. Does anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks!

No! Let the TA requests stand. The likelihood of you finding dropdowns that exactly matched is unlikely. And as far as people have experienced, I’d you enter an online checkin choice that seems to contradict the previously requests it’ll eliminate the previous requests.

They are just saying that you still might get a room ready text if you bring MBs and don’t get new ones. But getting the room ready text doesn’t happen for everyone. I have never gotten it based on online checkin (the one time I got the text we had stoooed at the front desk just in case).

I would go ahead and get the new Magic Bands, especially if your kids want new colors. Even though we had old bands we got new bands and were offered the option to go straight to our room on arrival. However, we did not like the room that was prepared for us. We got the text with our room number about 10:30 AM while we were driving in. It was in an area of the resort that we didn't want so we went to the front desk to request a room in the area that we wanted.

We got to the resort at 12:30 in the afternoon and they had a room in the building next to where we had requested and it was ready so we took it.

We had made a couple of requests for room location(section and building)and downstairs
both online and when I called to book and got a room prepared that was not close to where we wanted and not on the ground floor. So I wouldn't worry too much about requests. If you get a text about your room and are good with it you're golden, if not you can always stop at the desk and ask for a change. Cheers!!!!!

Thanks for the reply! I totally understand that if your online request conflicted with your TA request it could cause an issue, but what if one of the drop downs does match? Would you still leave it blank? I am guessing that one of my TA requests will be an online option and the other will not (as it is specific to the resort).Would you still suggest leaving online requests totally blank, or should I choose the one that does match the TA request previously made?

Thanks! That is all helpful to know!

If you already have a request, don’t enter one for the online checkin, even if one matches. It overrides the requests already made.
