Stayed 2 nights each at GCH and DLH. Switched because no pool at GCH. Was disappointed in DLH. Have stayed once before and had a much nicer room (same category both times.) What I didn't like: one of beds was uncomfortably soft and loud whenever someone turned over. Single sink (double sink at GCH much better with 4 people.) Loud "knocking" plumbing above us woke me up at 3am and was intermittent for entire stay. I did complain upon check out, but didn't make a big deal about it. Hot water was spotty for one of my showers, and sink seemed to be either scaulding or cold. Also, no lounge chairs available at pool in afternoon. No chairs at all actually. Pool was very crowded (spring break + GCH users were allowed use.) None of these single things was a big deal, but put together, it was a bummer, especially when paying $400+ per night. Pool was not crowded at all in morning. I did love having Goofy and Chip wandering around the lobby, and of course, Trader Sam's. Also, when I switched hotels, bell staff took our stuff between hotels. Very nice.
GCH was wonderful (second time staying there, still lovely.) Super comfortable beds and great sound proofing. Had view of fireworks and monorail (paid for standard room.) Room is a bit smaller than DLH, but had no problem with that (double sinks helped.) Much closer to parks than DLH.
I debated a lot about where to stay. I usually stay off site (BWPP or Fairfield), but decided to splurge. In hindsight, would have been best to stay at GCH 2 nights and offsite 2 nights (would have tried Courtyard.) I will only give DLH another try if I hear they've done a fairly major renovation (upgrade plumbing and elevators for example (or I score a major deal ).
Your experience may vary, but I hope this helps someone who may be trying to decide where to stay.
