Was hoping to pull together a full trip report, but have been a bit under the weather since vacation here, so I thought I would just post about some highlights.

Vero - was DH's first visit to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We enjoyed Captain Hiram's one evening for dinner and Mulligan's (across from the Ocean Grill) another night. Both are located on the water, and the food was very good, too.

We spent a half day at the pool, heading out early morning. It opened at 8 am and when we arrived around 8:15 we could see the chair savers in full force. Now there is a sign posted near the clean towels stating that chairs cannot be saved, to be considerate of other guests. This seemed to be ignored for the most part. There was an incident where a guest across from us, who had saved a total of 7 loungers, one table with umbrella and 4 upright chairs with towels, and freaked out when a CM had come by and removed the towels. This was a full 4 hours after we arrived, and there had not been anyone sitting there the whole time. Each chair had 3 towels on it. Said guest found a CM screamed at him, used profanity, and then stated he was calling MS right then and there to complain, which he did on his cell. After the call he went over and grabbed another load of towels.. There went 3 towels on each chair again. By my count this amounts to 66 towels this one guest used. The whole time we only saw him and a woman sit down on two of the lounges. At one points two children came up with boogie boards from the beach, briefly spoke and headed out the gate again towards the beach. This had to be the most wasteful thing I have ever seen at a pool. It was crowded and I am sure many would have been able to use those chairs and vacate them long before he ever showed up to use only 2 of the 11 chairs.

We had a 2 bedroom villa and it was ready shortly after we checked in at 2 pm. Although I did not get out to the beach at night, my family reports there were turtle tracks back and forth from the ocean to where the nests must be.

I had not been to Vero in about 10 years so I was disappointed to see so many of the little mom and pop type gift shops are now gone from the village area. There were plenty of upscale boutique type stores, but I am not interested in shoes nor men's suits when on vacation. Give me those hokey t-shirts, postcards and seashell trinkets! LOL! We did find a few things in the Pharmacy there but that was about it.. Loved Hale's oranges. No shipping home during the summer months, however.

Green Cabin Room - we spent some time there early evening for a drink and enjoyed it very much. There were bugs biting outside and the chairs were not so comfy on the porch so we headed inside where we soon found live entertainment with a vocalist playing guitar and prerecorded music in the background. We tipped him, though he first tried to wave us off.

Tried Sonya's for breakfast Saturday morning. The character breakfast was going on next door at Shutters but we wanted just a nice ala carte meal so we opted for Sonya's. I enjoyed the farmer breakfast with eggs, sausage, homefries and toast. Decaf was excellent.

Will post more a bit later...

Oh, keep talking about VB, Please! We are suffering major withdrawal, not from WDW but from our wonderful family vacation to VB this June!!! We saw lots of turtle tracks too, and a group actually went out at night with the Caribbean Conservation Group and saw eggs being laid.

PS. I am sorry that the chair saving incident happened. You are right, besides being rude, that's a waste of resources.

LOL! Ok more Vero info - we love browsing through the resort gift shop. DH went over the first day and surprised me with a purchase of 2 different Vero T Shirts. I have one I purchased 10 years ago and I still wear it at least once a week, lol, so I will make good use of these new ones for sure. One is a pretty blue and the other an earthy brown/green.

I find the parking garage under the villas most useful. It is quite easy to grab one of the luggage carts, load up the suitcases and get up to the villa yourself. We did not have a grocery delivery here (short stay) but did stop in Publix the first day to pick up just a couple of essentials including breakfast items so we could rise early and head to the pool the following morning.

The hair braiders out by the pool had a steady stream of customers all day. Some chose the wraps, and more seemed to want the braids or half braids. Not a huge wait, but always someone waiting to be next..

The CM who checked us in was very pleasant. She awarded DH a "First Time" button since it was his first Disney Vero Beach stay! She gave us some tips and directions on places we were looking to head out to.

While at the pool we enjoyed lunch poolside. We had burgers, fries, hot dog, and some kind of wrap for DH. We also sipped a Mai Tai and a Pina Colava. Yum!

Had never spent time in the Green Cabin Room on my prior visits! We did like that very much. There were quite a few people, and actually was about full by the time we left for the night. One family had been playing board games in there while ordering snacks and drinks, lol. Fun for all in there..

More Vero - The Saturday morning character breakfast in Shutters seemed to be quite crowded. DD had gone down to the podium the night before inquiring about breakfast ressies for us. We were not interested in the characters as we were heading to WDW anyway Saturday and figured we would just have a quick ala carte meal and head out.

She was given ressies for breakfast in Sonya's for us. It was nice enough, quiet and not too busy. But the service was lacking. Very slow considering we were one of two tables that our server had at that time. Then they brought DH a side order of hash instead of the hash breakfast meal that he had ordered. Believe me a little bowl with a small scoop of corned beef hash was not going to do it for him, LOL! They did correct it, but he ended up waiting for his while the rest of us ate as they would have gotten cold.

I would give it an ok rating. Not horrible but nothing to run back there for either.

Since it was such a short visit to Vero we did not have enough time to soak in the ocean view, sit on the porch rockers, etc. But it was a taste of Vero that DH had never had before so it was well worth it.

DD combed the beach and ended up with some lovely shells. She is planning on using them on a craft project here at home. Very nice selection.

Eb & Flo's had quite a lineup waiting just before they opened. About a half hour later it had mostly dispersed, but it seems the early birds line up to order whatever they are looking for that day. So get there early...

Captain Hiram was a very nice meal. We all agreed we would go back there again. It is not low priced, but not horribly overpriced either. Good choices, since one DD is not a seafood lover.

Mulligan's had happy hour prices on some drinks each day. They also had a grassy area overlooking the ocean where you could occupy two lovely Adirondack style chairs with umbrella and small table in the middle. It seemed that many order appeitzers and enjoyed the happy hour drinks out there.

On our way to WDW we noted that the large mall now has a huge outlet mall complex a bit down the road, across the street. Good for those bargain hunters.

Sounds loverly! I am sure that we will have to try out Vero, to mix things up a bit! I know the kids would enjoy the beach, and would love looking for turtle tracks.

I've never understood why people resent pool-lounge savers. I really appreciate their work! I can't tell you how many times they have saved my family seats, because if I see seats being saved, I just take the towels and the seats.

If they come back and make a stink, I would just tell them there weren't any towels there when I came up. And I'd remind them of the signs clearly saying you can't save seats, and refer them to a CM if they have any questions.

I've had people give me some puzzled looks occasionally (like, "Wasn't this where we saved seats?"), but so far I haven't had any confrontations. Those folks know they're breaking the rules -- they just do it because they can.

I've employed this method on numerous cruise ships. And to just confuse the returning seat savers, I rearrange a couple of chairs so it doesn't have the original configuration. If they show up, (and so far only one family did and they weren't confrontational), I tell them that someone was leaving and that is how I go the chair.

Maybe it needs to be in electroshock neon orange. :thumbsup2 Have seen people actually stop, read the sign then go on to become a guilty party. Self entitlement? Maybe a few even take the sign verbatim. It doesn't say you can't reserve chairs, lounges and tables just don't use your personal items. Use a strangers. Is your b___ considered a personal item? ;)
