We have booked a spur of the moment weekend trip to HHI 4/24-4/26, it will be a long drive for us but we are looking forward to relaxing as a family.

What should we not miss? (Tours, restaurants etc)
What Dolphin tour is the best?
Kids are 8 & 4 any must do's for them?

Thanks a bunch!!

Our favorite restaurants are: ( in no particular order)....

1. The Sea Shack. It truly is a shack, but some of the best seafood around. Be prepared to wait in line as this place is incredibly popular with locals as well as tourists. You will order and then be seated at a table...never the reverse.

2. Signes. This is a bakery/cafe and has some of the best quiche around. All the bread and cakes are baked in house and the food is fresh and delicious.

3. Dye's Gullah Fixin's. www.dyesgullahfixins.com Dye is a one woman dynamo and passionate about her food and the gullah culture. I had some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten at her restaurant on our last trip. The crab cakes were as big as my hand and FULL of crab and no filler. She does buffets for some meals and menu items for others. See the website for the schedule. You do need reservations as she only cooks what she will need for the day. She makes everything fresh and in season. Although her meals seem pricey, the food is fresh and freshly prepared. The cake we had for dessert one day was still warm from the oven. You will not be disappointed.

For Dolphin tours, the resort seems to recommend Scott's Dolphin Tours, which leaves from the marina right next to the resort. Be aware that there's a good chance that you'll also see Dolphins at the ocean by the Beach House and in the waters surrounding the resort.

Thank you everyone! Are we going to have a problem finding food on Sunday? It seems like a lot of places aren't open or say seasonal on the menus.

Thanks!

No, you will have absolutely no problem finding restaurants open on Sunday. "Seasonal" at HHead usually means they're closed in January and February.
