Hi all,

We're all set with 25 days to go till we depart for Disneyland Paris. I've read through numerous threads on here and have to say it's been a fantastic source of information and an absolute boon to a dyed in the wool planner like myself, so thanks to you all. There are just a few questions I have, particularly about the Davy Crockett Ranch where we'll be staying.

1) Since the SCART connection is a French invention I'm assuming TV's in the cabins will have them, as we want to take a dvd player and Wii for evening wind-downs. Does anyone know for sure that they do ?

2) I'm assuming the outside BBQ's provided need charcoal, can you buy thisd on site or do you have to get it at Auchan ?

3) We've booked a single room cabin, but after reading some trip reports it seems like the two bedroomed ones are newer and of better quality. Would I be better off changing before we go, or waiting till we check in and chancing our arm or just stick with the single room cabin ? I haven't looked at what the price difference wil be yet, but I see people saying it is minimal and possibly worth it.

I might have a few more questions over the coming weeks (it all adds to the excitement for me, my workmates are on the verge of thumoing me as I talk of nothing else right now) but I promise to make up for it with a lengthy trip report and hopefully some more details for the DCR threads.

Cheers

I'll try to help with your questions.

TV's have scart blocks screwed in and there are no other front AV connectors so you'll not be able to connect other equipment. At least not on our TV.

We stayed in both the 1 and 2 bedroom this last trip. The 2 are definitely not looking as tired. But for us we would not have paid the extra. But if you want the better option it would be worthwhile changing.

You can get charcoal at the Trading Post (DCR shop) :)

Thanks for the info.

Scart block ? Are they afraid people will stay in the cabins watching DVD's instead of spending money in the Disney shops ? Guess I'm packing a screwdriver then.

We'll probably stick with the one bedroom and save ourselves the hassle and extra cash, it's just a base and we're used to Haven caravans so I'd imagine they'd be of a similar quality, which is fine.

A couple more questions if you don't mind you lovely DIS-peeps...

1) Are the autograph books at Disney reasonably priced or would it be better picking them up before we go? And if so does anyone know a good place to get them ?

2) I'm probably wrong, but I can't recall seeing any pictures of Donald Duck in any of the meeting characters threads, is he there ? If not I'm cancelling the holiday, I'm not going all the way to Disneyland to blatantly NOT see Donald Duck.

The autograph books can be found in most of the stores and is available at the Trading Post (DCR).
There were 2 types. The 15th anniversary that allows you to put a photograph beside the autograph at around €9.90 and a normal sized book at €4.50.

Donald Duck was seen at a Cafe Mickey meal but there are no guaranteed characters at any of the meals.. well apart from Mickey at Cafe Mickey ;)

Woo-hoo! Holiday's still on!

Thanks again Cyrano, we were planning a meal at Cafe Mickey anyway, so fingers crossed.

Th tv in our cabin had scart sockets........we connected our portable dvd player so the kids could watch peter pan...............ok it was for me aswell!! :rotfl:

in our one-bed there was a scart socket in the tv. we used it to record old movies in french and german. we didn't manage to watch much tv while we were there - there was too much to do.
the pool is great in dcr.
the autograph books are dearer than they were with the exchange rate.
sometimes i buy them, but mostly i let the kids pick notebooks in paperchase or somewhere.

Everyone seems to rave about the pool at DCR, I can't wait to try it out. We'll probably haul a DVD player and a bunch of films over there and end up not watching them anyway, I just like to have all my bases covered.

Another question (I told you I'd think of more)..

I keep reading about people having Goofy alarm calls in the morning, is this something that you get at DCR ?

Be wary of the pool - Mum and I find it a tad cold for our liking. The pool temperature was 28 last week, but they had the doors to the outside open which made it feel colder. It's a really good pool though, just a bit cold.

Now, the jacuzzi on the other hand... :rolleyes1

Hiya -

we went last year and the pool was great - one of the highlights of our trip - Also, the Goofy alarm calls are great, but try to do it for when you/kids?? are already awake - otherwise you can't always catch what is being said!
We stayed in a 2 bed - it was fab for the 4 of us - I do not like sharing a room with the kids - they are even noisy when they sleep!!!!

We saw Donald and Daisy most days in the courtyard at the studios park - with proper queues - not the usual free for all.... Scrooge McDuck was there sometimes too.

on our trip in may my sister took her boys to the pool but it was so cold they wouldnt stay in so they came back straight away.

Agree you may well see Donald in the Studios, as well as Daisy.
The TVs in the cabins are tiny, just so you know!

they sure are. I had to watch the champions league final on it on last trip and it was hard to see if our penalties had gone in. but we beat the chelsea so it was all good in the end.

We thought the pool was lovely in April, not too cold at all. We were in there for a hour or more each time and always finished off by going in the hot tubs which are great.
