A few board observations...

I just joined a few weeks ago as we prepare for our trip in a couple of weeks. Also, since we only go every few years, I will probably not frequent this board on a daily basis a month or so after we come back.

That being said, here are a few observations...

1. I know the search function has been rendered USELESS, but would it really hurt to spend a couple of minutes doing a quick scan of thread titles in the first 5-10 pages to see if what you are asking about has already been discussed in the last few days?

2. This board is great for OPINIONS on anything and everything WDW related and I really appreciate the people who take the time to respond(some of the restaurant reviews are AWESOME). With that in mind, take a look around the most popular disney sites for INFORMATION related posts such as what are the park hours this month, what is the average temp in July, how much does it cost for <fill in the blank>, etc... Not only is a lot of this information available by clicking on the links at the top of every page on this board, you have www.disneyworld.com, www.wdwig.com, www dot wdwmagic dot com and many other resources.(or go back and see suggestion #1 chances are the question has been asked in the last day or two).

3.Reading comprehension issues...If someone asks an opinion on one thing, don't respond with an answer that is irrelevant. For example..if someone wants to know about the best resort restaurant, don't respond with the best restaurant at one of the parks.

I'm now off my soap box. I know, who left me in charge, blah, blah, blah...:lmao: :lmao:

Just trying to make some suggestions to make the board more readable.

Okay...feel free to flame away.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

While I agree with you, don't hold your breath.

Someone posts a thread like this every few months or so...but like JimmieJ said, don't hold your breath!

By the way, the seach function works fine for me. Every time I see a question that has been answered I do a search and give the OP a link to one thread about the topic and suggest that they do a search.

:rolleyes1 Hmmm....just trying to figure out what the big deal is.....if I see something on the board I've already read in a different thread, I pass it!! Doesn't take up my time, really not an issue! ;)

I didn't think I'd be on the website on a daily basis after my trip either (that was in Nov. and I'm still here).:lmao:

The big difference is that threads that may be more relevant are flying off the first few pages never to be seen by most, unless you are on the board 24x7.

Like I said, just some observations.:)

I need to get some work done after returning from WDW, so I better not be here as much!:)

Possibly Labatt, but it's been my observation that if they are relevant, they stay on the board longer. However, your observation is noted!! :flower3:

What she said. :)

Right with ya! And our first and last trip to WDW was May 2005, then DL in Aug. 2005 and SDD's graduation present trip in 2 months. My DH says I'm a Dis Addict.

Well I'm new to this board but not to message boards in general, and I've found that they're pretty much all like this. The ones that are closely regulated for content, opinions, no repeat questions, and the like, pretty much die on the vine. You just run out of stuff to talk about. So, within reason, it adds diversity and keeps the board alive. :thumbsup2

Of course you are right about thread hijacking, but again I've found it's just human nature. You say something and it sparks a story in someone's mind that's tangentially ralated, and they want to share. Hey, it bumps that thread back to the top. If it's something that I care about, I reply again and get the thread back on topic, if possible. It's not always possible to control the threads, just like it's not always possible to control a group conversation.

Variety, it's the spice of life. It's what keeps people checking back, which makes a lot more opinions available when someone comes looking for answers. You just hafta sift through a lot of coal to find a diamond sometimes.

C'mon now, :grouphug:

For example:
Originator: My dog has arthritis, what do I do?
I had a shepherd that had arthritis, he was a great dog.
Shepherds are great but none will match my chocolate lab.
I saw some beautiful dogs at the dog show last weekend.
All full breed dogs are inbred and mistreated. I can't believe you people still buy pure bred dogs.
Yeah and thos pet stores mistreat all animals. I read once about a fish that died in the aquarium and no one even tried to save it!
Fish? I love fish! Grilled, fried, even sushi.
Ya know what goes great with sushi is wasabi.
I know a restaurant that makes cucumber wasabi dressing that is to die for, but the service is bad so I quit going.
You never get bad service in WDW. You should go.
Originator: What the heck does WDW have to do with my arthritic dog???

Note: I have no idea why I just typed all that. I am a deranged individual.:rolleyes1

But a funny one. Earlier, I read the topic you started about your wife and indoor corridors at Deluxe resorts. You started out funny and others kept piling on. It was hilarious!
Here's a link to Matt's thread about his wife and inside corridors. It's a great thread:

It was funny, but the funny part was everyone else. I especially liked the threat of giraffes taking our food right off the balcony. The horror!!

Back on topic now, move along. There's nothing more to see here.

Man those thread hijackers can be ruthless, can't they? ;)

Here, here!! The forums are just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. LOTS of info to be had here and elsewhere. That, plus the hundreds of opinions to be had on the forums, and every thing you need is out there. (You know what they say about opinions.)

Now, what does this thread have to do with theme park attractions and strategies?

Nothing. If I put it somewhere else, the target audience wouldn't see it. ;)

Hmmm...I'm not sure people who have been here for years and have managed to do just fine with things will be open to the suggestions of someone who has been here for a few weeks and doesn't plan to be around for much longer. But, yeah, good luck with that.;)

Now, I have to say, I really would like to see a better search function because it really is too much to ask to search through the first 5-10 pages. That just takes too much time.

this is such a magical world! Look at all these responses and no "flamethrowers!" that's why I like visiting...and will probably be back after our trip.

I think the search option works great too..haven't had a problem...

I'd like to add - I love looking at the MGM, MK and Photo of the day threads. The pictures are amazing and love to see how differently others see the parks. (Where was that taken from?) By complaint would be when folks "quote" and include the picture that has already been posted...takes forever to scroll thru them all to try to catch up with what I've missed.

but, as you all said, this is still a bunch of friendly folks who are always willing to help!
