Wow. Honestly, I find some of the responses here to be so insulting. He's a grown man, not a child. He doesn't need to be "punished" or "taught a lesson."
I say, if it's the thing he wants for Father's Day, and it doesn't break the budget - then that's what you get.
I lost my glasses last week...$700 no-line bifocal designer glasses. Can't find them anywhere...I had a hectic week with work, doctor's appointments, running here and there...and somewhere, they were laid down, left behind, eaten by the dog, thrown away by mistake, whatever, I can't find them and that's that.
If my husband treated me like a child and said, "you can get a refurbished pair or cheaper pair until you learn to be more responsible..." Geez - I think I'd blow a gasket.
I'm sure he was rushing around, packing up - and simply forgot.
I say get him his Touch, give him a giant hug, have the kids record Father's Day messages and upload them to the Touch and leave it at that.
Just my opinion...
