A&E Stampede this morning was insane!!!

Eeeeek!!

I had originally planned to go straight to A&E and use FP+ for other things. But reading about this stampede, I've gone right off the idea. I'll try and get FP+ but if it doesn't happen, then it doesn't happen. DD4 only wants some Mickey waffles and a pony ride anyway, so she'll be fine.

I did think that maybe we'll go back one evening and the wait might not be so long, but then I thought I'd read somewhere that they only meet until 5pm, is this right?

90 days to go!

That's correct. Just until 5. And I haven't heard if they are cutting the line when it gets to the point where they expect it to last until 5. That would be helpful to know.

You will be FAR better served to get an A/E FP then take advantage of shorter lines for other attractions at rope drop.

Last time I went to Disney World , I REALLY wanted to ride Expedition Everest. I love roller coasters and this seems like the best one at Disney, and I had never been on it before.

It was kind of what I was most looking forward to in terms of rides.

We got to AK, and went to the Safari. When we got over to EE, the wait was like 150 minutes.

I didn't ride it. Just sayin...

Yes, I was thinking of doing FP+, even though we plan to go at RD, and experience the park at a leisurely pace. The stampede description makes it sound like The Hunger Games - not something I fancy first thing in the morning lol.

I went to lunch at a busy restaurant yesterday and the hostess took down my cell number.

When my table was ready, I got a text and then I was seated.

Why can't Disney do something like this? Text me when you are ready for me.

Sure my spot won't come up for 5 hours but I am free to do a lot of other things instead of staring at the back of some stranger.

If I am not there in a set amount of time, give my spot to someone else.

Does someone have a video of this? I'm going to Rope Drop at Magic Kingdom but don't want at all to be runned over by these Anna&Elsa lovers :scared:

ummm. They *do* this. Its called FP+. Same thing, it's just that the line starts 60 days ahead of time.

Just walked by it. Line was 240 mins.

They used to let you actually run all the time! It was better! then the runners got out of the way quickly and anyone who didn't could walk up mainstreet.

Just stay back a few minutes or move over to the side they aren't all running down. Just don't think you can mosey up the same path they are taking and not get run into or comments made. just stay out of their way and they will be gone and everyone will be happy.

It would be different than FP+ because you would have to physically show up at the attraction and get the return time. And it would allow for a chance for same-day to get in, unlike current FP+.

Yep, they would run out, but they run out now at some point too when the wait time exceeds the hours of operation.

I understand it would be different than FP+ but it is similar to what FP- was which doesn't work when you also run FP+. If this was the experience they want, just open up more FP+ and don't even bother with this name taking system.

Back when they had FP- there was also standby. If they were to do as you suggest there would effectively be no standby. FP+ would take the bulk of the spots and this new form of FP- would sell out the remainder to the racing RD people. So anybody who gets to the park after that has no opportunity to see A&E.

Now, while it isn't ideal they at least have a way which is called standby. And please don't argue that if my points were the case nobody in line after 9:30am would get to see them and it isn't an eight hour wait. We all know that far more people would try and get a paper ticket to do something else and come back later than would line up for even 2-3 hours. I actually think the stampede would be worse as people would see this as a way to get an extra FP and not have to waste one of their 60 day FP+.

Disney needs to have both a FP and viable Standby option. The suggestions that keep coming through is to not have standby which just doesn't seem acceptable to Disney's point of view.

There is a video on my DD's Fb feed but I can't figure out how to lift it. Here is a screenshot from it...the line continues to wrap beyond the carousel:

Thank you, I was thinking I would gonna die like Mufasa :rotfl: Expect that CM's control this thing, because some old people can get hurt. I got Anna&Elsa FP+ just in case, but I'm not pretty sure yet if I want to spent a FP with this. I'll talk with my mother at the park about it, maybe I change this FP.

Really glad we were able to get a FP+ for this. There is no way my kids would wait more than 20 min to meet any character. Heck my DD sees more than 10 people in line for a character and she thinks it is too long :lmao:

I do hope this nonsense continues to siphon crowds away from the rest of the park. So happy we have no kids or interest in this movie or meet.

I don't know if this would work or not, but I wonder if they had a small stage show somewhere in that area where Anna and Elsa came out and greeted everyone and talked for a bit, did something cute from the movie, every so often during the day, if that wouldn't suffice for a lot of kids so they wouldn't HAVE to wait in the meet and greet line. They could still see Anna and Elsa fairly up close, and that might be enough for some people. And the diehards who absolutely have to be the same picture with them can still wait in a (hopefully) smaller line.

I think that's a really good idea. Most kids would just love a little wave and a few words from each princess. Stick it next to Peter Pan's flight while your standing in line for 60 minutes...

Maybe when I'm there in June we'll join in the run just for fun. Sounds exiting haha.

:thumbsup2

But you got it wrong. I'm in charge of the drinks. :drinking1

MadHattered will set you up with a shirt.

I'm still trying to remember who was in charge of the cookies....... :scratchin

Opps! Sorry, I must have been distracted pre-booking my FP+s and missed that part of the meeting. Anyway, thanks for the drink! I think I needed it while I was trying to decide when and what to book my FP+s for! ;)

MadHattered has down for my shirt. :rotfl:

we used to call TSM 'the running of the bulls' back when everyone was let go from a rope. It was manic - was this morning really that bad .....I can't imagine it being worse (my mind would explode LOL)

Showing my age here, it USED to be a run for Space Mountain!! Back in the day.

Surely there is an empty spot somewhere in Epcot beside Norway that Disney could throw up a Frozen theme backdrop and put another A&E there to take some of the pressure off for a few months. Wouldn't cost a lot of money and sure would make some parents and kids awfully happy and help get them out of that line and spending money.

So thankful I have a boy that has no interest in waiting in line to see a princess!
