I do feel bad for the victims.
A little research would have helped though... Airline and park tickets? ... Both items that cannot be purchased through DVC. I also agree... would have liked to have seen confirmation numbers for all products first.
If they took a vacation from Sunday to Sunday of Thanksgiving week, and stayed at a 2 bedroom at VWL, that's 309 points... say at $15 per point, that's only $4635 (used highest point possible for scenario)
Deluxe dining per person would have been about $720.
Ticket costs would have been about $390 each for 7 day Park Hopper.
A trip for 5 Adults would have come to about $10,000 average. There would have been a little over $4000 still to be accounted for, and i can't imagine all of that for airfare...even for 5 people. (child prices would have made the cost less)
(If we were to account for 9 Adults (Max number in a 2 bedroom unit), the total less airfare would have been $14655.00)
The article didn't say how many were in their travel party, so my scenarios may be moot. (just me playing mind games...)
Regardless, i do feel bad because in either event, they were scammed.
Like the article said, she must have been a smooth talker.
