A DVC (Disney) Rant

I have had tickets at will call with just a confirmation number, never had a problem so I would not worry about the email.

As to others getting emails, did they say they called and ordered them over the phone from Member Services and got an email or did they receive emails due to ordering them online or calling Disney tickets not Member Services.

Tickets Online are Here: Member Privileges > Member Perks > WDW Resort > WDW Annual Pass Savings and More Disney Magic > WDW Annual Pass Savings

In the section titled 'How to Purchase a Pass', click on 'Walt Disney World Ticket Store'.

Thanks. I couldn't find it this morning. Seems kinda hidden.

I got a gift card to get fuel perks at the grocery store, I could not order online, you have to call. Worth it, I saved $32 on gas ($500 gift card at .20/$50 x 16 gallons).

For most companies, and I would guess this is the case for Disney, it is an unnecessary document and they don't want to provide it, so they charge such a fee that they don't expect anyone will ask for it. I understand old habits die hard for consumers, and many of us are used to receiving confirmations and documentation for major transactions, but increasingly there are more efficient ways of doing this and the old ways aren't needed. Businesses are doing away with those processes. Younger consumers don't care, older consumers have to adjust. But I don't think it is really an attempt at gouging.

I agree that having an e-mail confirmation isn't necessary and many, perhaps most members wouldn't want to a copy, if they were able to log into their member account and confirm that the vouchers are attached to their account. It doesn't sound like that type of verification is possible.

MS is limited by the system they use to make ticket purchases. The same system is what makes it where they can only do two forms of payment on a ticket purchase. There's a different system that is used at the front of the theme parks, etc, that has more functionality. But as I understand it, those systems require a separate terminal to function, so there'd have to be either a set of MS reps who just do tickets, or annual dues would have to go toward buying a few hundred of those terminals for MS.

I got ours on line via the DVC web site link. I got a confirmation email from ticket.inquiries@disneyworld.com. I didn't mind the $15 as they were shipped UPS to the UK. What did confuse me was why they had sent 2 parcels, with 3 cards in each. check my AMEX and yes I had paid for both! Once I contacted them they said "as a courtesy they would refund my $1299" and told me which ones to cancel. I was at the time a was a little miffed as the error was not at my end, as I only had one order number. I received 2 different order numbers. but hay got my money back, Job done. TTFN Jo

I have a bit of an rant that I want to share. Now in the grand scheme of things this issue is really miniscule but I feel like I need to share this.

So let me set this up. My wife and I go to WDW at least once per year. We have started buying annual passes and scheduling our trips so that we get two trips out of each Annual Pass. So when the discount came out for Premium Annual passes, we were sure to jump on them.

So I call Member Services up to purchase these tickets. The cast member on the phone was great. As we were discussing the transaction she asked if I just wanted to pick the tickets up at Will Call or did I want to spend $15 additional dollars to have our vouchers mailed to us. Actually I think there is a rant in the fact that Disney wants to charge $15 to mail paperwork to my house. But I will save that for another time. In answering her question, I said that the email confirmation of this transaction would suffice. It was then that she said that they do not send out email confirmations!!!!!

How can this be? I just spent over $800 and one of the largest corporations in America can't send out a confirmation????? This to me is inconceivable. I can buy $10 worth of anything from anyone online and get a confirmation via email. Why can't (or won't) Disney do this?

Yes, I know that I can go to my credit card company and get a verification of the transaction but that's not the point. This is really no different than if I go to WalMart, use my credit card to buy over $800 worth of stuff and the associate says "we don't issue receipts unless you pay extra for them". ReallY????

Ok I'm done. Thanks for listening. :)
Absolutely valid gripe. I went through that when we bought ours last year. I found that to be irritating, too. Such a simple concept, right?

I wanted to update those that had posted in this thread and anyone else that was following it. Today I received a FEDEX envelope containing my PAP Vouchers. Apparently others were correct in that the $15 was for expedited shipping. When the CM mentioned the cost of mail delivery she did not state that it was expedited delivery. Anyway, I wanted to clear that up for everyone. Thanks.

I just bought 3 PAPs and had the vouchers mailed for a $5 fee. I don't use gift cards, (more chance for errors), even though I just bought $1800 worth at a 16% discount, (we will use them at WDW).

:earsboy: Bill

I want to know how you get the discount on the gift cards? Is there a thread on that?

Thanks!

We used the HEB (a local Texas store chain) promo. There was also a Target promo that we didn't use.

We also buy Wolfgang Puck gift cards from Costco for use at Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD Marketplace.

I did get an email confirmation from WDW Ticket Inquiries as well. I called MS, but they had to put me through to another division since I was paying with lots of gift cards. I would have been very uneasy if I didn't get an email confirmation.

Sounds like an email confirmation happens, based on other posts, but...

This must be a deliberate decision NOT to send them out by Disney or at least DVC.
As Napoleon reminded us: Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.

I had to call to get mine as the online purchase option will not take gift cards. Same story, no email confirmation or receipt. Just the confirmation number and the assurance it is attached to my member number. With my trip exactly a year away today before I redeem the voucher, I'd sure love to have that email for peace of mind but instead just have my gift card and the charge showing against it, with my number to hang onto until then.

While I do agree it's a system limitation, it's lame. Either let me use a GC online or email me a receipt.

LOL!

when I bought mine mailing wasn't even brought up. CM just mentioned how to pick up at will call.

If you did it via MS, no email confirmation

If MS transferred you to ticketing, or if you called ticketing directly - there will be email confirmation

I actually think MS having the confirmation # in their system is better. I lose things all the time, and this is yet another paper I have to print out, or email I have to save. It's nice to know that I can just call MS to get my confirmation #.

I did get an email confirmation because I paid with a bunch of GC so I had to call ticketing directly.
