Welcome to my PTR. Im a trip report newbie and am finding the task ahead a teensy bit daunting. Im just like you
a HUGE fan of all things Disney, so Im going to give this reporting thing a whirl. Ive been inspired by the many, many action-packed, fun-filled TRs youve so generously provided for my reading pleasure. If you find yourself bored at any point, please feel free to go
wont hurt my feelings a bit.
Allow me to introduce the fam:
Me (Lisa): A 44 year old city girl who married a country boy and moved to rural Louisiana very nearly 20 years ago. (We really are a version of GreenAcres!)
DH (Raymond): Aforementioned country boy who for this trip will be A.K.A. The Birthday Boy. Yep, May 28th DH will be 55! The Double Nickel!
Here we are on our last Disney Cruise:
DD (18): The Princess. Bless her heart, we began her Disney immersion even before she was born! Now she breathes, eats, and sleeps all things Disney. Currently working two jobs while debating her options for the future (join me in hoping that includes college). Shes a phenomenal dancer. (No, I am not just saying that because Im her mom its absolutely true.)
The Princess doing what she loves:
DS (13): The Prince. Animal lover, music lover, comedian, 3rd-degree black-belt in TaeKwonDo and collector of Disneyana. Will be (this is so hard to type) going to high school in the fall.
The Prince with an orphaned baby (this was taken last year, the Prince has changed a lot since then):
Not accompanying us on vacation will be Casey and Tulip, our dogs, BB and Richard, our cats, and Lily, The Princes pet rat. (I know, I know A RAT? They actually make great pets if you can get over the freaky tail.)
Lets take a quick look back before we go forward. My first trip to the World took place not long after Raymond and I were married .right after we found out we were expecting The Princess. Raymond had been a frequent visitor to the World and couldnt wait to take me there. So, in January, 1990, we took the original version of the land and sea package, sailing on The Big Red Boat and staying at The Grand Floridian. Flash forward to trip #2 in 1996. Both offspring were with us, The Princess was five and The Prince had just turned one. We stayed at an All Star and went IN JULY! Nuff said.
It was difficult, but wisely we waited a few years before venturing to the World again. Heres the rest of our World history:
POR Spring Break 2006
Land & Sea (Poly) New Years 2007
Here we are by the Christmas decorations in the GF:
7-day Magic Western + GF New Years 2008
Our view from the GF main building:
This is when Raymond did the unthinkable. He put an unexpected halt to our run of happy Disney vacations. He said (oh, this is so painful!) that we would have to take a vacation somewhere else before we could return to The Happiest Place on Earth. Raymonds normally so easygoing I sometimes have to check for a pulse, but when he takes a stand on something, theres no changing his mind. Fine, fine, okay, I could do that. I promptly booked a trip to the beach for October, 2008 in Gulf Shores, Alabama (affectionately know in these parts as The Redneck Riviera) and a January, 2009 ski trip to Park City, Utah. There! Done! Now can we please resume our Disney fun? Id held up my end of the deal, how could he refuse?
The buy 4 get 3 free promotion was just the opportunity Id been looking for! So, here we are on the big countdown to our May 23rd 30th stay at AKL. The Birthday Boy even got to pick the resort. Ill buy him a round of golf and a massage, order up a special cake for his birthday dinner at Jiko and hell be one very happy guy. I am NOT taking any chances on that weird alternate vacation thing happening again, so Ive already booked a 5-night Wonder Castaway Cay Double Dip cruise for May, 2010 (with a couple of days at CR thrown in for good measure).
Well, thanks for sticking with me so far. Up next: My obsession with planning: Dining, touring plans, and packing lists, oh my!
