My sister just told me her friend went down to Disney last week to Magic Kingdom one day after a week at the beach. They said it was sooo crowded they only got on 3 rides the entire day! They got a refund from disney since they let way to many people into the park that day. Any one else hear about this?

I agree, but maybe they did. Is hard to believe, though.

At DCA when they first opened, there were days when a lot of attractions were down, and there wasn't much for small kids at the time.

I was in Guest Relations making meal plans and they were refunding tickets or exchanging them for DL tickets.....

And once I heard two older ladies at AK complaining because the animals didn't come out during the safari, and asking for a refund!!! :rotfl:

Disney has well-established procedures for admitting guests in busy times, so I doubt they would simply refund someone's admission because there were too many people. And you would be able to ride many more than three rides in a full day, even with wait times of two hours for the big rides. This sounds fishy to me.

They probably made such a big stink about it to guest relations that Disney probably did give them a refund just to appease them.

Disney has procedures in place for capacity. They don't let it too many people - they let in enough people to fill the parks to capacity. Sounds to me like a poor case of planning on the part of your sister's friends and making a big stink and probably complaining so much that Disney just did something to get them out of their hair.

I totally agree. Yes it was packed! On Tuesday it was wall to wall people, at one point it was gridlock going over a bridge!! No one wanted to give up his place to try and let a trickle of people through. We honestly stood there for about 12-15 minutes before someone cut a trail.

I fully agree. they probably went ot GS and complained loudly. Rather than cause a scene, Disney probably comp-ed them. No loss on Disney's part as they will still get money from the guest on food and beverages.

There are several stages the the parks that Disney Follows, And in the final stages none of the non working cast members can even get in..

Ooh I think you might be a bit harsh. We recieved a refund for TL after they let us in and there were no chairs anywhere. There is no way I was staying if there were no chairs available. They offered to go get us some and when they couldn't produce any they most graciously gave me a refund. As much as I LOVE WDW they are not God and even the best of the best run operations are going to get caught off guard. I am willing to believe and hope that if they went to the gate and addressed a legitimate concern that WDW would have handled it in an appropriate manner. Does that mean any knucklehead that rolls out of the bed that morning on the wrong side and can get a refund because he/she isn't happy with the way things are going - I don't think so, but kudos to WDW if they made good on a bad situations.

I was just down there during Spring Break, and the crowds weren't bad enough that you'd only get on 3 rides.

I was down there, and hooked up with two random girls on the Monorail. They had been talking about how they only got on 1 ride during the time they were at one of the parks, so I acted as a guide for the rest of the day. If they only did 3 rides, it's only because they didn't take advantage of Fast Passes, or they wandered aimlessly throughout the park doing the "oh... what is this ride? This might be neat with a 60min wait, it must be good"

We used the early EMH at MK didn't have to wait hardly at all on Spring Break...BUT it DID get super crowded in the afternoon. I can say how people would get cranky. We were done riding all the rides we cared to ride by 2:00pm the day we went at 7:00am. We went back on 3/29 just to see the princesses and stitch and I had thought maybe we'd scoot on to IASW a 3rd time, but things looked packed in Fantasyland so we didn't bother. I still think you'd be able to ride more than 3 rides between the afternoon and midnight, of course you'd have to wait in lines. I guess if you walked around saying "no that line is too long" and passing up rides, you could end up not riding much. :confused3

If they complained, they probably did give a refund. A couple years ago when it rained on MVMCP and there was no parade, they refunded tickets if requested.

This surprises me. I thought the MVMCP tickets were non-refundable, and the party goes on even if it's raining.

Joanna - Surprises me too..

I know they didn't refund tickets this last Christmas. Entertainment is subject to change. :( Unfortunately Disney can't control the weather yet.

My in laws are going next week for the first time with their 3yo Grandson. Since a lot of the North East is on Spring break I imagine it will be packed. I put together a 5 page notebook with beat the crowd tips and itinerary ideas for them. My SIL sneered at it and said no way could she ever read all that, let alone follow it. (I made it so easy a 6 yo could follow it, but oh well)

I can't wait until they come home and tell me how awful Disney World is. The great thing about it is at least they won't ever want to come with us. :)

Is it just me? If one choose to go to WDW on Spring break (near Easter even), wouldn't one expect the Parks to be crowded? :earseek:

Disney_Freak56 - Yes, to a point.

We chose to go this past week, only because our two oldest were marching in Epcot with their HS band. We knew that the parks would be crowded, but were still not prepared for what we encountered at MK on Weds. 3/30. We have been to WDW quite a few times, at different times of the year, and have never encountered crowds like we did that day. We were told that they had closed the park at noon on Tues. 3/29. Not sure if they closed it Weds. or not, but they sure should have. It was an absolute mob scene during the fireworks and 2nd Spectromagic parade. We had a very bad experience and talked to several others who had also had very unDisneylike experiences that night. We did talk to several CMs about our experience, but would not have even thought about a refund.

I don't know about the OP's story, but I do know there were very large crowds last week.
