Does anybody know if there are any places to have a picnic in the historic area? Do they have picnic tables? Could we just take a blanket and find a nice spot on the grass somewhere - or is that not allowed? Anybody know?

I spent my freshman year at William and Mary, and there's a GREAT place for a picnic behind the Wren building, called the Sunken Gardens. There's plenty of room, and it's in the middle of campus around all the buildings-- very beautiful. Make sure you go to the Cheese Shop and have some of their bread and house dressing! That's the one thing I really miss!

I love the Cheese Shop, it has more outdoor tables now too.

I used to get roast beef, on french bread, with sprouts and sauce. It's delish!

Behind the Governor's Palace is a nice place to picnic(near the pond). You'll need your pass to get into that area, though.:D

There are LOTS of open areas there that I would think you could do that anywhere.
