We have just confirmed two preferred studios at BWV. I understand that requests are not guaranteed, so rather than getting our hopes up about specific locations or views, I thought it might be easier to get some feedback on rooms to absolutely, positively avoid!

Any rooms that are in overall bad shape, too dark, great big tree outside blocking the view you're paying for? I've read that the elevators are noisey - how far away do we need to be - 3 doors, 4 doors, more? Can anyone recall the room #'s that are closest to the elevators? This way, at check-in, I can be prepared to battle it out then and there!

Has anyone made a reservation and requested a specific room that they do not want? I have to think that would be easier for them to accommodate than requesting a single specific room. Or am I dillusional?! :rotfl2:

you need to request an area.

yes I think someone comment on a big tree blocking their view - but I don't remember the room number.

your choices are the main pool - this thing is big some are close to the elevators but most are not.

the quiet pool - my choice next time I get preferred.

the lagoon area going to studios.

I think someone say that the garden view you know where the boats are is also considered non-bw preferred view - so you might ask for garden view.....'

of course you might end up some place else.....

A request is simply a request. I don't understand why a "battle" is needed. :confused3

We had preferred view room at BWV and got a "water view". True, we did have a view of a narrow canal beneath us and could see the Friendship boat off to the total right (as well as TOT) if standing out on the balcony. But, our primary view was that of the valet parking lot and a service area driveway where work vehicles rode up and down all day. We were not impressed with our view at all. We were also very close to the end of the hallway---maybe 3 doors from the end which made us very far from the elevators. If you are traveling with elderly/young children/strollers/wheelchairs....this could be an inconvience. In hindsight, I would request a "pool view" if we ever stay here again. The "main pool" views were closer to the elevators than the "quiet pool" views were.
Have a nice stay :cool1:

I did notice several rooms (don't know the numbers) where the views from the patio would be completely blocked by trees. Our view was partially blocked by a tree as we looked down the entrance driveway (we were in a std. view). I just recall thinking, "I'm glad I'm not in the room with the tree directly off the balcony"...

The standard view rooms X101 have a huge tree in front of them, and rooms X121 have a smaller tree (may not affect 4121 but I'm not sure).

MdmM..sorry, a bad choice of words on my part. I agree - a request is simply that - a request. What I was trying to say was that if I'm checking in and it looks like I'm being placed in room X101, I can request immediately that I would prefer to be placed somewhere else.

That's OK, Lizzie! :) (Unfortunately, there have been some people who check in and do engage in a battle!)

Enjoy your trip! :teeth:

I've heard some of the preferred views face the back of the pool slide, not a great view. I like to request top floor, I figure you are more likely to get a better view there. On the other hand, we ended up on the second floor last week over Big River, so it is indeed just a request. I asked if there was anything else, they said no.

Debbie:

Wouldn't a room over Big River be considered a preferred boardwalk view? I understand the higher floor rooms over the grill have great views, no?

Yes, I had a boardwalk view reserved. I was just trying to make the point that requests are not always filled. I requested top floor (5th) and got 2nd, nothing else was available.

We had the best room you could ask for in my opinion. We had a room that faced the swan and the river. Every morning the boat horn woke us up at 9 am when it took off for Epcot. We just asked for a high up room. We were on the 5th floor and could see all of the lake and it wasnt considered a "water" view room for some reason. The only downside was the walk to the elevators. But we got smart and got off the bus at the swan crossed a small bridge and were right outside the exit near our room. About a 3 min walk from the bus stop at the Swan. Go figure. Have fun and good luck. We love BWV.

Was this near the elevators then ? Just curious ? Because we could have used the stairs, which were closer to our room, but we were traveling with a senior citizen who could not tolerate stairs to the 4th floor so we had to travel the long hallway to the elevators. I would think some senior citizens, those using a wheelchair, families with young children/strollers would have difficulty using the stair case.
It was easily at least a 6-7+ min walk from our room to the bus stop from where we were located. But maybe there is another set of elevators at the end that I'm not aware of ? I only stayed there once.

If someone in my party had any of those issues...very young, very old, physically challenged in any way....I would make note of it one my reservation, and ask for something on the ground level. I would be afraid that if there were an emergency, they might not be able to navigate the stairs. There is only the one bank of elevators, at least to my knowledge. We had one room that was 236 steps from the elevators...3 villas from the end of the bldg/stairway by the tennis courts!!! But, the room view was gorgeous...looked out over the canal, Community Hall, the quiet pool..terrific. The other great room we had was a preferred studio, facing the village green. Right over Muscles and Bustles...we could see the boardwalk, the fireworks, Spaceship Earth, the lake, BC, the elevator was about 10 seconds down the hall. Perfection, and it was considered preferred, not boardwalk view.

Hey, I had that room in March! It was great, but it's LOUD at closing time. I'd definately ask for the green again if it was an adult only trip because people do tend to hang out at the bottom of the steps after closing for anywhere from minutes to hours :confused3 I like talking to everyone hanging out down there (mainly because I close the bar anyways :rotfl2: ) If my dd is with me, then I'd ask for a quiet pool view so she doesn't get woken up.

Sounds like you had a terrific view. I'm trying to figure out where you were. I don't know the resort too well. I was waaay at the end of the hallway and overlooked the valet parking lot---but I could see TOT if I stood out on the balcony and looked to the right. I was in #4131. Sounds like your view was much better.

I totally agree. Most of the WDW resorts have very long hallways, some longer than others. BWV is not alone. AKL, YC, BC, GF, etc also have long hallways. And the resorts that have separate buildings have a long walk to the main pool, retaurants etc., except if you request certain buildings that are close to the main hub, the same as requesting to be close to elevators. So it basically, evens itself out.
The people that post here are very much WDW & DVC savvy; often times they are more knowledgable than WDW CMs. I also would have requested a villa close to the elevators if we were staying with someone that had mobile issues. :confused3

They had a villa overlooking the quiet pool and commuity hall. It is a very nice view, and one of our favorite loacations after the boardwalk view. But is not right next to the elevators either--if that is an issue.
We have stayed at BVW more times than I can count, and can honestly say we consistently have much better views at BWV than at any other WDW resort. And we have stayed, and continue to stay in ALL of the WDW resorts, at one time or another.

Well....I was a novice BWV guest.....did not realize the walk to the elevators were that long. It was long, but my mil was fine with it. We actually laughed about it and how we should leave a trail of bread crumbs to find our way back to the room. I was referring to being unable to utilize the stairs which were much closer. Now that my mil would have had trouble with. That is what I think people with little ones/strollers etc would not be able to take advantage of.

I think this is law of percentages.....I can say the same thing about OKW (I've had wonderful views there 9/10 times) but it's because that is where I have had the majority of my wdw stays. I guess I was just unlucky at BWV----I stayed there once and got a bad view. It happens. I'd bet if I booked a few more stays there it would even out and I'd end up with more better views than not.

Ah yes...those rowdy JR closers!! But, even they couldn't bother me in that room...just loved it. I can't decide which one I liked better..that studio or the one-bedroom overlooking the quiet pool. They both had their fantastic points.

MiaSRN62....when we had the villa overlooking the pool...if you stand in front of Community Hall, facing the quiet pool, we were on the top floor of the section to your immediate right, facing the S/D, about 3 villas from the canal end of the hall.
Our studio, overlooking the Village Green...if you walked down the outside stairs from that front porch with the rocking chairs on it, then looked straight up to the left, above Muscles and Bustles, we were on the top floor, second balcony from the end (main bldg end rather than the lake/boardwalk end). Both terrific views.
