A "deterrent"

I'm one of those "pin-aholics" who loves soooo many different types of pins (WDW, DLR, DCA, DParis, TDL, TDS, and up until now MM DG pins)...I also love so many characters, events, attractions, etc, that I have a difficult time resisting new pins ;-)
The last four MM-DG pin series are "helping" me resist, in fact these "head shot" only pins are a real deterrent for me...I don't want 'em (I did buy Dumbo himself, b/c his ears are so big, you don't really "miss" the rest of him!)
What are y'all's feelings about these...are they easier/cheaper to manufacture (seems like they would be) and then sell at full price? Do you like them?
Thoughts please:bounce:

I don't know whether the head only pins were designed to be a cost savings measure.
Considering the real cost of manufacture is so low, the difference for the head only pins might be negligible.

However, as to whether I like them . . . No. I prefer character pins that are full body with no background or settings. Just my preference.

I was looking forward to the new MM Snow White set, because I do love princesses. But, once I saw the pins, I was disappointed.

On the other hand, there are probably many collectors that like this particular style. As they say, "That's what makes horse racing!"

:)

Those headshot pins (as well as many German pins) look like something you could find at the party favors section in Wal-Mart. I am not impressed with them either. I am not sure they'll be as desirable as those in the Millennium collection still are.

I think, overall, Disneyland produces more handsome pins. Tokyo is not too far behind! Some of the pins produced in the last couple of weeks are absolutely adorable!

I think WDW could stop skimping on production expenses, for all the money we spend on pins alone, $%@& #~!!!

Some pins are way too boring and monotonous.
And then when you take an old pin and add a dangle thingy here, a sliding whatchamacallit or a rolling snafu there, well... It turns extreme.

I asked this when the Head pins came out at first but I am still confused. With all these pins of just the heads, what did they do with all the pins of just the bodies? Can we expect to see a pin of Pooh's butt sometime soon?

Jeff

You mean *that* Evil Queen's pin was indeed her face?

Dang! I thought it was part of Pooh's body set!

Wanda

Well Jeff,
You have seen the Mickey body parts dangle pins right?? So I guess you are on the right track and there should be more of those type pins to come!

Watch it Wanda!!! You are treading on dangerous ground there!!! You wouldn't want her to put a spell on you now would you?

I liked the pin of the Queen. The Hag was good but I felt they really captured the Queen's expression. Looking at it gives me the chills. They did a good job with that one. The other 8 I am ambivalent about. I do feel they capture the look of the old german folk drawing upon which the film was based but other than taht they do nothing for me. Hope they trade respectably in WDW though.

UH OH...
I am not as afraid of the Evil Queen as I am of a villains' fan who'd give her suggestions!
