A deer jumped out on me

I was heading to the gym yestersday along with my DS17 when this young deer ran out and hit the front wing of the car
really shock me up
the car has quite a lot of damage on it
but the main thing was there was no other car as I was able to stop with out hitting the car that was comimg the other way and that we are all right
the deer had to be put down
waiting for the insurance company to come out and have a look , the garage has given me another car in the mean while

The funny thing was that a TV camera crew were there within a few minutes as they are doing a programme about all the wild deer that are running wild in the area

Glad you are ok. We live very close to Cannock Chase which is teeming with deer. Have seen a number of people hit them over the years and had several near misses ourselves. They do an enormous amount of damage to the cars that hit them Hope you soon get your car sorted

Hope you're okay, it really does shake you up.
We hit a deer on the a19 near thirsk about 15 years ago, it was about 5am on a summer morning and DH and I were travelling to Lincolnshire for work. It jumped over the central reservation in the gloomy light and landed right in front of us, we weren't even sure it was a deer, I thought it was a wolf!

It made a fine mess of DH new vauxhall cavalier SRi, he wasn't best pleased! It cost over £600 to fix light, bumper, number plate, grill, wing, etc. When we told people at work they said we were lucky as it could have bounced up onto bonnet and come thru the windscreen!

Sadly the deer didn't survive, found it in a ditch next to our bumper when we finally plucked up the courage to look the following weekend.

A friend of the family hit a deer & it wrote his car off! its amazing the damage they can do.
