After our December trip in 07, my DBF and I talked of taking a multifamily trip in December of 08. After much planning, it has finally come (and gone :(). We decided on the week after Thanksgiving, to celebrate my DS's birthday, plus it's right before the APs expire ;). So here's the cast:

Me: Tammi
DS: Nicholas (8, turning 9)
DD: Alyssa (6)
DBF: Bob
His DD: Bethany (6)
My parents
Bob's sister, Connie, and niece, Shay (35)

DAY 1
Our flight from DC, was uneventful but very rough. We got into MCO around 10:30 and headed to the Magical Express counter, where there was about a 10 minute wait. Bob called Connie and Shay, who drove down a few days ahead of us (going to Universal and Sea World) to let them know we had arrived. There plan for this morning was to go to all the monorail resorts and look at the Christmas decorations. But when he called they said they had already checked into OKW, which I knew was going to screw up our Magical Gathering, but more on that later. My parents flight from Pittsburgh arrived at 11:00 so we waited for them before getting on ME. After the met up with us we waited maybe 5 minutes to board the bus to OKW. While we were waiting the heavens opened and it began to pour. The sky was gray and very ominus looking. On the drive it would clear up, and then pour, and then clear. When we arrived at OKW it was raining again. I had booked my ressie as well as my parents' (2 studios) on my points. Bob, Bethany, Connie and Shay were in another studio. So when my dad and I checked in, our rooms were in building 30, right next to each other, and because Connie had already checked in for them, for whatever reason, they were in building 50, nowhere near us. We didn't mess with moving rooms around, but had we all checked in together, I'm sure it would have been easier. Next, my DDP wasn't added to my ressie. I don't know how this happened as I made both ressies at the same time, and my parents' had the DDP. Luckily there was a VERY helpful manager working who let them add it.

So after quite some time at check-in we finally headed over to AK, IN THE RAIN! By the time we got there it was only a light drizzle and we were all very hungry. We had a 3:30 ADR at Tusker but went there to see if we could be seated early. Since the rain had practically cleared the park out it was no problem. We've eaten breakfast here before and really liked it so we wanted to try lunch. It got 2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 from everyone!

Next we jumped on the Safari, which was a walk-on.

Remember I said the rain cleared out the park. :upsidedow We didn't see many animals, only one elephant, no cheetahs or lions. I guess they didn't want to be wet either. When we exited, Bob and his clan ventured off to do their own thing. The parade was going on so we watched it, then went on Dinosaur.

Alyssa rode Primeval Whirl for the first time and liked it, except for when it stopped suddenly and her tummy got rammed into the lap bar.:guilty:

As we were leaving Dinoland we were discussing what to do next. Since we had our raincoats on and we were already wet, we figured this would be the perfect time to ride Kali River Rapids. In the 8 or 9 times we've been to WDW, we had never ridden this. So Mom, the kids and I doned our raingear and walked right on. Dad wasn't up for it. We were seated with 2 young men who were comical. Had we not had raincoats, we would have been soaked! We all laughed the whole time and when we approached the unload area the CM asked if we wanted to ride again. All of us said SURE so we went for round 2.

We could have kept doing this but decided to get off and go to ITTBAB. I took some pictures of the Tree as we exited Bug's Life.

It was getting close to closing time so we decided to call it a day. At the exit of the park we saw the Fab 4. I don't know if they always do this, since we've never closed AK before. Our wait for a bus wasn't long and we headed back to the room to get a good nights rest.

Tomorrow we are off to MGM. (I still can't call it HS).

Great start, Tammi! It sounds like you got a lot done at AK that day. I am very happy to hear that you like Tusker House for lunch. Bob and I will try it out two weeks from tomorrow!

Loved the picture of the Tree of Life in the dusk.

Great start, Tammi, and great pictures! I love the last one with Nicholas and Alyssa!

Thanks. Oh and I forgot to mention, we did a spinoff of Elin's anniversary trip where she did x amount of new things, one for each year of marriage. We were able to accomplish one new thing a day, and Kali was our new thing for day 1.

Cool, I love seeing the parade pictures of the characters in holiday costumes!! So awesome.

Great start to the trip. Cute kids. In all the times we have been, I"ve never seen the fab four close the park.Score for you!

Hello Neighbor!! (I live in Stafford, just moved up there from Fredericksburg)

You all look like you're having a blast on Kali Rapids!! I bet it would be fun to ride over and over again  I will be leaving Saturday for 8 days (first 4 will be by myself and then my DD, her DBF and 1-year old baby will be joining me for the last 4 days. I can hardly wait! Am renting points to stay at BWV in a boardwalk view room - will look forward to sitting on the balcony and relaxing in the mornings and evenings (at least til the GS gets there lol).

Hi Tammi! So glad glad I was able to see you, even though it was quite briefly. Look forward to reading more, looks like you had a great 1st day(minus the rain)!

PM me as to your location and where you moved from. I met Elin (PNO4TE) on here and she literally lives about a mile from me. I hope you have a great trip!

Day 2 will be up tomorrow. I promise.

Day 2

We were at MGM for rope drop and headed straight to Toy Story.

After we obtained FPs we rode. Bob and I rode together. I can't remember what my score was, but my accuracy was 96%. Bob outscored me but his accuracy was 30something. I told him at least all my shots counted. ;)

IMG_0218.jpg

After this we split up again. Connie and Shay wanted to see all the shows, so Bob was TourGuideBob for them. Mom, Dad and the kids and I went to ToT and grabbed FPs.
IMG_0219.jpg

Mom and Dad shopped while Nicholas, Alyssa and I rode RNRC. By then our FPs for ToT were ready so we all rode that. Now that our tummies were awoken they needed some food, so we walked over to the Commissary for lunch. I promised the kids that they could have their faces painted, so that was the first stop after lunch. Alyssa got a unicorn and Nicholas got the Red Power Ranger. When we met up with Bob and Bethany briefly afterwords, Bethany's response to Alyssa was "your life is so much better than mine." :sad1: Poor kid wanted her face painted too but Bob was being a mean daddy.
IMG_0228.jpg

The next Jedi training academy was starting so we stopped to watch. Both were lucky enough to get chosen. I think the funny faces had a lot to do with it. ;) They've each done that 2x now, so I don't thinking we'll be doing it. Hopefully.

Mom and Dad decided to go back to the room to change into warmer clothes for the late night. The kids and I headed over to the Animation Studio, where we accomplished our new thing for day 2. We have never gone to the Animation Academy so we decided to try that. The first time we drew Goofy. The kids wanted to try again so we got back in line and drew Minnie this time. Alyssa got frustrated and ran out of time, so her drawings were never completely finished. I told her she did very good for a 6 yr. old. She loves to draw and asked for the character drawing book in the gift shop when we exited, so I got that for her. Her drawings are getting better and better!

We met back up with Mom and Dad and had about a half hour to kill before dinner at Mama Melrose. We tried to ride TS again but the FP line was long. So we wandered back to the HISTK play area, got some water and people watched for awhile.
IMG_0233.jpg

Dinner was very yummy and we had an excellent CM. Connie and Shay decided to eat CS instead, so it was just the 7 of us. We all shared the Flat Bread appetizer (I love that roasted garlic spread). Dad and I had the Penne Alla Vodka, Mom had the Chicken Flatbread, and Bob had the Wood-grilled Chicken. The CM brought Nicholas a sundae for his birthday. Now I'm really hungry after reliving this meal.
IMG_0235.jpg

We made our way over to TS to use our FPs before Fantasmic. I tried a new strategy of just continuosly shooting aimlessly. This does not work. I had a very low score.

IMG_0240.jpg

After TS we headed to Fantasmic. I told the kids to really enjoy this because we probably won't see it again for a long time since it won't be shown nightly. It was as enjoyable as ever.

Next up was the Osborne Lights. For some reason this year the HMs were harder to find. Even harder was the purple cat. I had to ask a CM for a hint as to where it was. This was the first time my parents have seen the lights and they LOVED it. Now Mom is harping on my dad as to why their house doesn't look that good.
IMG_0262.jpg

A really wonderful CM named Leo befriended the kids and became their dancing partner.
IMG_0267.jpg

We finally had to call it a night and walked leisurely out of the park.

Tomorrow: MK and Nicholas' Birthday!
