A day out

So ... during our past wdw trips, we've always had a day out - heading off in the car for day away from the villa, parks and malls.

Previously we've always headed to the west coast - clearwater, St Pete's etc

Up for any suggestions for somewhere different this time.

Happy to drive a couple of hours in any direction - looking for something fun, maybe a beach, maybe not with food and possibly a few shops.

Any ideas greatly appreciated

St Augustine is beautiful. About 2 hours drive. We normally drive up the I95 and back down the coast road.

St Augustine. We love it there, it's beautiful. We went twice last trip, which was due to me wanting to eat pizza from Pizza Time again. Second best pizza in America apparently, I wish I was eating it now!

We will probably stay a night on our next trip xx

How about Vero Beach, still Disney but not at all 'parkish'. Nice little town to explore with quirky little places to eat , fantastic beach and about an hours drive. Think you can go off on a manatee watching trip. My aim is to spend more time here next year.

A bit of allsorts there, shops, bars (great Irish bar) restaurants, train station/line right thru the town centre, lake with boat tours http://www.scenicboattours.com/

We've taken days out to the natural springs, no beach or shopping, but you can swim in the spring water, can get lunch, see manatees, alligators etc. and a great boat tour. Our favourite is De Leon Spring State Park. Have also had great fun on an airboat ride.
