I assume most people who have done DLP have ventured out for a day in Paris.

I've booked for 4 nights and 5 days for me, the other half and two kids(6 & 18 months). I was looking at having a day out in Paris to see the main sights and was wondering what would be:-

A. The best way of doing this bearing in mind the kids.
B. The cheapest way of doing this once again bearing in mind the kids.

All comments will be much appreciated.

We were at DLP in April and also went to Paris a couple of times. I would recommend taking the train right there at DLP. They run every few minutes and will take you right into Paris. There is a stop at Gare de Lyon that is a transfer spot for other main trains if you need to change.

I would go to the travel info booth by the DLP station for info on which trains to take depending on where in Paris you want to go. They are very helpful. The cost is not bad and I don't think you have to pay for your kids at their ages.:mickeyjum

I would reccomend buying a 1 day paris visite card if you are just doing it for a day and then take the train at the disneyland entrance to:

"Chatellet Des Halles"

From here you can transfer to the trains that will take you to the usual must sees in Paris

If you read the first two days of my AnniverDisney trip reports (they are very recent as only just got back last friday so are on the next couple of pages) it is all about using the RER and Metro round Paris and which stops we used to get where.

But def Marne Le Vallee (Disney station) to Chatelet de Halles.

It's really easy to use.

We did 2 trips into Paris from DLP at Easter. The Mobilis ticket is cheaper than the Paris Visite one.
There is lots of info about these days in my trip report from Easter - look in the sticky at the top of the page and its in there.

The Mobilis ticket is cheaper than the Paris Visite one.

We were umming & ahhing between Mobilis & Visite but in the end, decided that Mobilis was the one we wanted. If you're planning to visit lots of places, the Visite one might be better for you as it gives discounts on entry fees etc but otherwise, just for travelling on the RER, the Mobilis is the best option in my opinion.

Check out their website. You can get more info on what places the Visite ticket covers here - http://www.ratp.info/picts/touristes/photos/plan paris-touriste.pdf

They do not mention the Mobilis on the English website though. DH found it on the French website. Think they want the tourists to buy the Visite ticket.

HTH.

We just came back and did a visit to paris one day. We bought the train ticket for the whole day, unlimited access. We left the station at around 10:30. It was a nice ride, about 40 min.
From there, we walked, and walked and walked some more. Stopped for food and continued walking. At 6 it started to rain. We had just finished our round, so we took the metro at Trocadero and went back to the A4 line which was PACKED. We were traveling with two girls (4 and 2) and a double-stroller. It was hot, people was pushy, it took forever to get back. We finally made home.
I would suggest to you if you are taking the train to avoid rush hour.

Do you know if the Visite card is for consecutive days only? Or can you use it whenever you like? For example, if I buy a 3 day card and start it on Monday, must I use it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday? Or can I use the card Monday, Wednesday, Friday for example?

It's for consecutive days, starting on the day you first use it, not the day you buy it.
