I have a Disney trip coming up with my wife and 2 kids aged 4 and 14 from August 26-September 1 staying at the CBR. We are driving down from the Philly area Friday night and check-in is Sunday morning for 6 nights. I fully expect to arrive in Orlando area Saturday before noon. I can drive all night without a problem while everyone else sleeps. We have Cinderella's castle breakfast set up for 10:20 Sunday morning so that will be the first thing we do.

#1) Should I try to get a Disney hotel room for Saturday night? I was trying to save a few bucks and get something cheap with a decent pool since I'll be sleeping most of the day but if it would make the check-in easier on Sunday, then is it worth it to try to get a room added on for Sat night?

#2) Should I bother with online check-in? The reason I ask is that I am going to definitely ask for a room closest to the Ole Port Royale because of my balky back and the fact that the kids are going to want to swim in the nice pool. We drive everywhere so I am not worried about the bus or any Disney transportation.

I was going to definitely do online check-in to be able to get there around 8, get our room keys and get to the park for our breakfast in plenty of time, but if I am not going to get a room near the Old Port Royale, I may want to try to change it and don't want to hold up the other online check-in people.

Thanks in advance

Dude, just stay at a value resort. It's cheap and the whole place ROCKS. the pools are big and clean you got a great food court and a video arcade. The rooms are small but they're just for basic sleeping. Even if it's for one night , consider a value resort.

#1. Yes. I would get a hotel room as the offsite hotels will be about $30 to $70.00 cheaper. While that may sound like a savings, the hotels offsite, for those prices, can be rather scary.

2. I would do online check-in. If you have any questions regarding the room assignment, the CM can then make any updates to it by calling housekeeping to see if another room is available. Online check-in is only slightly faster than regular check-in.

Call Disney reservations and have the location request added to your reservation. Explain that you'd like to be close for medical reasons. No guarantee but if you get it on the reservation, you have a better chance of getting it. If you wait until check-in, the rooms in that area may be full and no chance of getting your request fulfilled.

I would say considering how busy the resort is going to be and you need to book preferred to be close to the main building, their chances could be slim.

Disney got very savvy last year and added many categories, based on the mounds of requests people made in the values and the mods, including preferred, or close to main building.... they should not get their hopes up....

I would add a night to the reservation and do online check in. We drive from Philly also and last year left around 3pm and arrived around 7am. Disney has different room categories so you may want to look into it ahead of time if you have your heart set on a specific location.

I would spend the extra to be on Disney property, but that's just me. In terms of online check in, I would not bother if you are going to ask to be switched if your room is not where you'd like. I would make sure the request is on the reservation and then just do regular check in.

Have a great trip!!!

I'd try the Omni - the pool is amazing, the hotel is truly 5 stars and its almost always available for like ~100 because its about 20 minutes away from WDW. I've been multiple times for conferences and its really an amazing property, especially the pool.

Just wanted to say hello. I am also at CBR the 25th to the 27th. Our last few days of a 16 day stay. We will be in relaxation mode and hanging out by the pool. I am also requesting close to services and pool since I just was diagnosed with a stressf fracture in foot and am in a walking boot. Not sure how that is going to work out! We do have the preferred category I think.

Whatever you decide to do, especially if it is a value resort, make sure you ask for a room away from the pool / in a quiet area if you plan to catch up on your sleep during the day. Pool view rooms can get quite noisy in the afternoons.
