Hi everyone!

This is our first time "Coming Home" & I am in the process of making my packing list. Yes I am alittle excited~ ok ALOT! :cool1::banana::dance3::cheer2:

I know they say the kitchen is fully equiped with cooking utensils & plates & what not. It does include a coffee maker, right? I am hoping so... I need my 2 cups of joe in the am~lol. Anyway, if so, I know I would need to bring my own coffee but what about filters?

And does it include a DVD player & cable? If I bring movies for the kids, do I need to bring my own DVD player? And what about an alarm clock? Sorry for all the questions. I'm sure I'll think of more later. We are used to staying at the resorts & hotels... never stayed at a fully equipped villa before.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Jen

You will need to bring filters - the flat bottomed version, similar to those used by Mr. Coffee machines. Get the 10-12 cup size. Another option is to bring the combo filter/coffee packs. Some people like those, but I prefer to bring my own coffee and filters - that "joe" is important to me, too, LOL.

And does it include a DVD player & cable? If I bring movies for the kids, do I need to bring my own DVD player?
Depends on the size of the villa and/or the resort. All 1 bedroom and larger units have a DVC player of some kind in the living room. Some resorts have combo VCR/DVC units. Most studios do not have them, but IIRC, there have been reports of some resorts putting them in studios. Sorry, can't remember which. Maybe others will see your post and provide more info on that. Did you know the DVC members can go to the resort's Community Hall (if it has one) or the resort store and check out DVDs for free? Most resorts have a pretty good selection, esp for children.

And what about an alarm clock?
Yes - all units have an alarm clock.

You're welcome - enjoy the trip. Feel free to ask more questions if you have them. :)

If you go to the DVC site and look under Member getaways/accomodations, you can see a list of what is included in your resort room. I think you'll find the kitchens are pretty well stocked with the utensils you need to get by for a vacation--better than what most first apartments have. Yes, there is a coffee maker and enough coffee for your first morning!

I've seen DVD players in my room but I also see VCRs listed on the website so I"m going to leave that for another person to answer. Perhaps it depends on your resort.

I know you'll have a wonderful time. Enjoy your first trip home!

Thank you! I should have told you we are staying in Saratoga Springs in an 8 person villa... sorry, my bad. I'll check & see if they have a community room. That is awesome. And thanks again for the "joe" info.

Thanks for posting this thread. I learned a lot researching an answer.:thumbsup2

It looks like you get a starter pack for coffee and laundry and toiletries. I know someone has mentioned a small bottle of dish soap and dishwasher detergent is supplied too. There have been mixed statements that you can get more and some say you need to bring more. But no one has said if you ask for more how much it costs to get more.:confused3 I'm a newbie too so I'm living vicariously through others trips until our own first visit.

Have a magical 1st visit home!

Feel free to bring your own DVD's if your kids have favourites, but SSR has a wonderful Community Hall with free DVDs to pick from, you can keep them for 24 hours. They also have different activities/crafts daily to do, and there are board games to check out for the day, and the kids can play video games for free in the hall as well.
Enjoy your stay!
