I booked dinner reservations for the HDDR. The only ressie I could get was for 9:30 pm. But I was able to get the level 1 seating. So that means right on the main floor in the middle of the action.

Im excited and nervous at the same time. I am extremely shy, and Ive been reading that people "loved the audience participation". Which has me terrified. They dont, like, pull you out of your seat and make you sing and dance do they????

Another thing is, since its at 9:30 at night..will the place be pretty empty? Have any of my fellow DISers been at that time? Care to share??

Any info you have on the HDDR would be GREAT!

We love the HDDR and it is a must do for us on every trip. we always opt for level 1 seating. That has gotten us seats in different areas of the lower level, some better than others. One year we right next to the piano and it was hard to hear sometimes. Another trip we were right up front near the stage but not right on it, and that was great. Then the next trip we were of to the side of the room a little but still a great view. This last trip we were pretty close to the back.

We usually do the 7:15 show but did the 9:00 one a few years ago and it was pretty full.

As far as audience participation its not a big deal. A couple years ago the kids got asked in the beginning of the show where they were from and then the actors sing a song and part of it was directed at them. The girls were thrilled even though they are both super shy.

We love being down front...in the mix of things......balcony is too far up, and you don't feel the action...

We've been to the HDDR over 15 times and I've been picked to be on stage 2 times and singled out at our table 2 times.....it's a ball...especially after quite a few pitchers of beer.....

The late show is packed also...usually less children due to the lateness and it seems the players get alittle more involved and raunchy with the audience....

Have a ball and whoop it up....very hard not to get into it!

You really don't have to participate much in the Hoop Dee Doo with the exception of maybe clapping. They have certain roles to fill from the audience, and they will pick people who meet particular criteria for each role. Example, little boy about 6 years old, slender woman in 20-30s, etc.

And hey...the sangria is awesome, free, and unlimited there... It does make audience participation much easier for shy people.

:thumbsup2

Have never been to the 9:30 show, so can't answer any questions about that...
However, we have been seated in Cat I twice, and I love it!
Please don't stress about having to participate - you don't have to, if you don't want to. The cast will pick outgoing people out of the audience - I promise they won't pick on you and your body language will show through.
You will have a wonderful time!

Finish it woman. ... They also seek a large bald guy to be the star of the show. About the most fun I've had at WDW. Yes, more than 1 adult beverage was involved.

If you get picked to go on stage and you don't want to, they don't make you. It's a lot of fun. We've been here several times and love it. I agree....I'd only sit right in the middle of the action!

Not always, but often, bald. My was the "star" of the show on our trip when DH surprised me by proposing and flying our parents down to WDW. The star is always a middle aged, slightly pooh shaped character. I think that was one of the best days of my dad's life :goodvibes (oh, mine too)

Looks like my ds will be in the HDDR! :lmao: He's oddly outgoing for a kid with autism. I'm not sure he understands that you don't have to raise your hand, you don't have to ask a question, and so on. We went to a local cavern recently, and every time they asked if someone had a question he raised his hand and started rambling, lol.

. . . I am extremely shy, and Ive been reading that people "loved the audience participation". Which has me terrified . . .

1) Participation is an option.
2) If they approach you, just wave them off.
3) They will go to the next person.
4) The goal is not embarrassment.
