I've been planning our next trip for months, and I'm in limbo now - waiting for the October calendar to be available. But I do have some questions that I know you guys will be able to answer for me...

Where is the best place for us to get hamburgers, salads or pizza at the parks?

and...

If we decide to get Mexican food, which is better - Rancho del Zocalo or Cocina Cucamonga? Or is the food pretty much the same at both restaurants?

Thanks in advance for your help! :thanks:

Where is the best place for us to get hamburgers, salads or pizza at the parks? We typically stay away from hamburgers, salads *although I loved the salad I got at Cafe Orleans last weekend* and pizza at the parks.

and...

If we decide to get Mexican food, which is better - Rancho del Zocalo or Cocina Cucamonga? Or is the food pretty much the same at both restaurants? I'm pretty sure they're basically the same.

Thanks in advance for your help! :thanks:

You're welcome :goodvibes

Disneyland in general is kind of hard for food, I love the place, but it
its hard...

As far as I'm concerned, the Hungry Bear has the best burgers and a nice view.

Cafe Orleans has the best chicken ceaser... yum!

Pizza port has the best Pizza and also a good choice of salads and pasta, it usually is a very economically meal!

I would chose the Rancho for Mexican as the menu is better and the overall quality of food!

Look like we will be there about the same time, enjoy your trip!

Hamburgers - Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA
Salads - good choices all over but my faves would be Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, and Pacific Warf Cafe (DCA)
Pizza - Naples in DTD IMHO Pizza Port's Pizza is terrible, but their pastas are good.
Mexican - Rancho over Cocina, though Tortilla Jo's in DTD is good too. We usually go to Rancho, and get some tacos and nachos from the walk up window at Tortilla Jo's in the same trip.

DH said the cheddar burger at Taste Pilot Grill in DCA was the best he's ever had, anywhere. He's very much looking forward to getting it again when we go this November.

You said two months but I don't know if you mean literally two months, or if you'll be there before September 7th. The unfortunately named "Pizza Oom Mow Mow" is going down for rehab on 9/7 but they had an Italian-style salad that I LOVED!

Not sure it looks as good as it tasted.

I've not had Naples pizza but I did eat at Napolini, I think it's called (the small faster restaurant next door). I thought the pizza was decent, but it was also highway robbery. I think it was $4.95 for a wafer-thin slice, and if you bought a soda (I didn't; my travel companions did) I think it was $3.50 (!). I believe buying by the whole pie was a better value.

The pizza at Redd Rocket's Pizza Port is OK, but make sure you get some that looks warm. I got some that was cold-ish (and looked it, so it's my own fault for being bound and determined to get that variety of pizza anyway!). I don't THINK it is what made me ill (kind of a fatigue/felt hot/malaise thing; not digestive)...but I was not feeling well the next couple days and I can't completely rule that pizza out. :confused3 My friend who had a warmer-looking slice was fine.

We have never been impressed by park hamburgers. If I want a hamburger, I eat somewhere outside Disneyland and DCA. I had a really yummy burger at Jazz Kitchen a couple of times. I had a good (but not exceptional) burger at the Mimi's on Harbor as well.

My favorite Disneyland salad is Oscar's Chef's Salad at Carnation Cafe. I like to get that and a cup of the baked potato soup.

We do not like the pizza at Pizza Port. We tried the pizza at Napolini and didn't like that either. People say the pizza at Naples is better, so maybe we will try that and find out if there is a difference.

The price for a burger at the take-away window at Jazz Kitchen is a steal by Disney standards, unless they've changed it lately...I was meaning to have it last time but we never got around to it.

The advantage of Taste Pilot's Grill is that you can load up your burger (or fries) with toppings from their topping bar. If I'm at Hungry Bear I buy a chicken sandwich though--it's not much more expensive than a burger but I get a better psychological value out of it. (As in, if I went to Jack in the Box I could get a hamburger and fries for no more than $3, versus paying $8+ for a Disney burger. But if I went to Jack in the Box I'd have to pay around $6 for a chicken sandwich, so paying around $9 for a chicken sandwich and fries makes me feel better. :) )

Hamburgers: Taste Pilot's Grill. They have the best options for "base" burgers and a toppings bar. Other than that, burgers is burgers in the park.

Salads: I'm not a salad guy but the ones at River Belle Terrace look big enough to feed two people.

Pizza: Cove Bar's BBQ chicken pizza.

Mexican: Cocina. I've only eaten one meal at each place but Cocina's was fresh and tasty while Rancho's was pretty "meh".

Mexican - Rancho over Cocina, though Tortilla Jo's in DTD is good too. We usually go to Rancho, and get some tacos and nachos from the walk up window at Tortilla Jo's in the same trip.

Super yummy nachos (and definitely shareable!!!!)

I like the pizza port. I enjoy their BBQ chicken pizza...and they have a few options for salad.

I've found the pizza at Pizza Port to be nasty. Not as nasty as we found at Pizza Oom Mow Mow, but still bad.

The vegetarian options at the two Mexican restaurants in the parks are about the same. Nice thing about the one in DCA is that not everyone has to get Mexican if they don't want to. We've used the tables there as a hub, and someone has gotten stuff from Pacific Wharf Cafe while another got Mexican...sometimes we switched it up with someone getting a rice bowl thing from the Asian place. It's like a food court there. :)

For burgers, I definitely recommend Taste Pilot's Grill for their wonderful toppings bar. As for salads, I love the Chicken Apple Salad in a bread bowl at Pacific Wharf Cafe ($10) and the Salmon Salad at Cafe Orleans (I think it's $12.95?).

We love TPG.....we love the Wild Bleu Yonder burger, I get mine without steak sauce and add tons of toppings (and BBQ sauce) from the topping bar. :)
We like Rancho more then Cocina, both are good and both do have a few differences on the menus but we enjoyed the food at Rancho more.
The Farmer's Market in DCA has a good chicken cesear, I enjoyed it very much.
But to be honest I don't eat too many salads while at the parks. LOL :)
We like Pizza Port much better than Pizza Oh Mow Mow, if Pizza Port was closed and we wanted pizza we would just go to Naples in DTD. :)

I like the atmosphere and staging at Rancho del Zocalo better than at Cocina Cucamonga, especially at night. Both places have good food so if you are in DCA and get hungry, don't feel you need to trek over to Frontierland to get your Mexican food fix. :)
