I think I am going to go ahead and buy an annual pass for the hotel discount this summer. When I check into the hotel, do I need to have the actual pass or is the voucher enough?

Also, to get the discount on other multi day tickets, do I need to wait and get those at the park entrance or can I get them online?

Finally, if I buy the annual pass online is it activated the day of purchase or the first day I use it?

Oops...one more question...is there any benefit to buying it online vs. waiting till we get there? Can tickets be purchased at the hotel?

Thanks for any and all help you can give!

1) I believe you have to have the actual pass but you can show that after you've received it. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong since I don't stay in the hotels.

2) Since you don't have the actual pass, you would need to purchase any additional discounted tickets at the gate. You would have to show your pass number to get the discount.

3) The AP starts when you activate it at the gate...not the purchase date.

4) You would still need to go to Guest Services to exchange/activate the pass so I don't see any real advantage to doing it ahead of time. You're still going to have to stand in a line. Tickets must be purchased at the parks not the hotels.

I just changed my rate to the AP rate and already have tickets from Costco. I asked if I needed to upgrade at the parks before check-in, or if I could check-in, get room keys, then upgrade at the parks and show my AP when we get back to the hotel. I was told that we could check-in first, then show the AP later. I didn't want to go to the parks without the room keys, especially since the kids wouldn't want to leave to go back to the hotel to check-in and get them! ;)

I have some questions about this AP as well.

First, how do you find out what rate the hotel would be at with the AP?

Second, what level of AP pass do you need to go for the hotel discount?

And third, if I already bought a 7 day ticket from AAA, can I still upgrade that to the AP? It cost me $106, so would I just pay the difference?

Thanks for any help.

1.) Calling universal reservations and asking for AP rate.
2.) Preferred or Premier
3.) Yes you can pay the difference at the gates to upgrade to AP.

I just called the hotel number to see if I could do what I was thinking, but all the AP room rates for my dates are sold out. I can still pass on what I learned, though.

I had wanted to upgrade the ticket I had already purchased to an AP so that I could get the AP rate for my hotel room at HRH, but was told I had to do that at Universal. The representative on the phone told me she could apply the AP rate to the room right now, and all I would have to do was upgrade once we got there and show the concierge desk at some point. Unfortunately, since I am going right after the harry potter opening, all the AP room discounts were taken.

But maybe this information will help some of you, so I decided to pass it on.

Hi,

I didn't know Costco sold universal tickets, if you don't mind me asking what the cost is when you purchase thru them.
Thank you.

I discovered that the Loewshotels.com website will let you book APH rates. You just select "promotion" under "Partner/Group rates", then put APH in the code box. I couldn't get AAA rates that way, though.

I just booked the APH rate for HRH on the Universal site a few days ago, after reading through the threads here. I learned you just have to showed 1 AP to the front desk at some point at or after check in. I'll probably order the pass as well from Universal, then get a discount on the other 3 tix I need before our July trip.

They don't have them anymore. :sad2: They were 89.99 for a 2-park, 3 month pass. They stopped selling them the end of last year, but they are still valid if they haven't been used.

With the WWoHP opening up- do you think we'll ever see those kind of prices again? Hope so!
