I read this board all the time in hopes of planning our next Disney Trip (but rarely post :blush). And it's finally come through!
We're driving down from WA the first week of May and staying at Hojo's :cool1: for our 2nd time ever at Disneyland!
My questions are regarding the restaurants at DLR. My DD is allergic to dairy. I thought I read somewhere long long ago that you can call and talk to the chefs of certain restaurants and they'll help you out. Is this still true? Who do I get in touch with regarding this? Anyone know if some restaurants are better than others at this?
Also, the last time we were there we did Minnie's Breakfast and it was buffet style. It was just not enjoyable doing the buffets. Are there other character breakfasts that aren't buffet style?

Ooh  and one more question I just thought of- We bought 4 day park hoppers through Getaway. We're tossing around the idea of staying one more day since we'll be driving. Is it possible to add another day onto that w/o having to pay full price for 1 day?
Thanks for your help!

I don't know if Disneyland is the same as Disney World (I would assume so - but you know what they say about assuming...;) ) at Disney World we added a day on to our 6 day pass and it was only $11.00 total for all three tickets! We went to guest services, with all our passes, and they just added a day on. Super easy and super cheap.

For Character Breakfast.. Lilo and stitch. YOu can order off a menu or the buffet. It worked out well as we have a family memeber who has a lot of allergies. She was able to eat at PP Lilo and stich just fine. It also has great character interaction. We all loved it..

Yes, you can upgrade your hoppers at guest services. They will charge you the price difference between the price you paid for the 4 day (it will have it encoded on the back) and the gate price of the 5 day hopper.

Re dairy allergy. I have heard and read that the DLR hotel restaurants are all very good about assisting with your dietary restrictions. Just let the person seating you know that you need to speak with the chef prior to ordering to ensure you have the best possible selections. Also, I believe the table service restaurants in the park are pretty accommodating and serve soymilk as a substitute pretty regularly.

Whitewater Snacks is another place where we have had very good service/assistance with dietary restrictions.

storytellers at GC does the same...buffet or order off menu and that goes for breakfast or dinner...:thumbsup2

Ariel's Grotto is all off menu so that is another idea.

I also read that the chef's are great with allergy. It's been suggested that for any priority seating bookings that you make, let them know at the time of the booking. Also, my readings have been that Counter service can be a bit more difficult, but there are indgredient lists available on request.

I called and spoke to someone in charge of some of the resteraunts in Disney. For Any Priority seatings we make, to note it on the ressies. At counter services, ask to see the ingredient lists.

DS is GFCF(gluten and dairy). They were more than happy to answer my 20 plus questions.

Ariel's Grotto is off a menu for lunch and dinner, breakfast is simply served, the only choice you get is what to drink.
Storytellers is off a menu or buffet
Lilo and Stitch is menu or buffet (my personal fave for breakfast)

You can upgrade your tickets at Guest Services, it will cost very little and will save you over buying a single day ticket.

The Chef's/servers will work with you regarding the food allergies, my BFF has Celiac's and she just tells them that at the beginning and they are always very good to her.

When you first enter the park go directly to City Hall. Ask for the list of dairy free items offered. This will allow you to know what you can order at restaurants in the park. Both Disneyland and California Adventure have a list. When going to a sit down restaurant, ask to speak to the chef. He/She will come out and tell you what they can make that is dairy free.

Hmmm Lilo and Stich... I haven't been to that one. More info please...

Lilo & Stitch is at Paradise Pier, I love it, the characters are dressed up Hawaiian style, Stitch has a lei and Lilo is there too. They have a buffet or a regular menu to order from. The buffet has a lot of choices and they also have sticky rice. :) Good food, fun characters and a great atmosphere. It's my fave!!
