My husband did the 1/2 this year and had a great time. He has already signed up for the Goofy for 2008. When we got back someone said there is a pasta dinner at the Sports Complex for the runners. Is this true? How much is it? Is it the night be for both races? Do you have to sign up for it? Can runners families join them? I didn't hear anything about it so I'm just wondering if any of you have.:confused3

Also, for the marathon.....I assume you are running through the parks while they are open. How does this work? How do you and the people visiting the parks stay out of each others way? Any light you can shed would be great.

Thanks for your help. :surfweb:

Hey there, If you go up to the events section just above there is alot of people there who do the marathons and I am sure can answer your questions. I have never been so can't help but I am sure someone there can.

Yes, there was a pasta dinner at the sports complex and it was free and I believe that family was invited also. I did not go but those were the answers I got.

As for the marathon, it does go through all four parks. They cone off the runners route and let groups of people through the gaps between the runners. It actually seems to work well. Of course, I was not one of the people trying to sprint through a 7' gap of runners.

Congrats to him on going Goofy.

There was a pasta buffet at the wide world of sports but it was not free for anyone.

Yes, you run through the parks, yes they are open, people were incredbily gracious about waiting for a gap to cross the marathon path. At some parks they had designated cross walks with Disney employees directing traffic. Most people cheered for you as they waited. ALthough I heard one kid at Epcot toward the end of the race say to his mom " they don't look like they are having fun"

But please note that you are only in the parks for about 3 miles of the 26.2 and most of those 3 miles is actually in backstage areas. However, I found the backstage areas more fun than the parks. Except for the sewage treatment plant- that wasn't fun at all.

Good Luck with the Goofy!
