A couple of add-on questions

Having bought into DVC in February (at SSR), DH and I are considering doing an add-on in October. We would like to buy at BWV, need around 150-200 points and will be able to pay in full.

I understand that the price per point is currently $95 if adding on direct thru' Disney but this is due to rise to $98 in June - is this correct?

So just wondering if anyone has purchased an add-on at BWV lately or waiting for one? Any idea of the likely wait time?

If we were to enquire with our guide now about adding on but nothing was available at the moment, if it came up after June would we still get it for $95?

And if we told him we weren't in a position to add on till October, do you think there is any chance we could still get it then for $95?

If not, I suppose my next question would be whether it would be worth going down the resale route. Is it much harder compared with dealing direct through Disney? Bearing in mind we are in the UK as well?

Sorry, I am aware that I am rambling now. Just trying to see what the best option would be for us, I suppose.

Grateful for any advice you could give :)

Having just added on some points Joh, hopefully I can answer some of your questions.

Current price for add on at BWV's is $95 but it's due to go upto $101. We were told that we probably would not pay the increased price but others on the boards said differently.
There was no points available to add on at BWV or BCV, there was some at our home resort (VWL) so we took them.
We went the direct route as we wanted them now.
Our first purchase was resale and although we had no problems, it just took a bit time.

There's a thread on here somewhere--"How Long to Add on at Sold Out Resorts" that will give you an idea of wait times for various resorts. My experience for BWV was: Called my guide in March and asked for 100 BWV points for my December UY. Got 50 points immediately, waited what seemed like a looooooong time, then called my guide on a Tuesday to ask status of my other 50 points. He told me there were none for my UY, so the wait might be a while. He called me two days later to tell me I had the other 50 points. So, it all depends on your UY, what Disney takes back in ROFR, etc.

IMO, you should call and ask your guide what, if anything is available for your UY, and get on the list. It might take until October to get your BWV points!!

Are you set on getting your same use year for the BWV contract? Since you are willing to buy up to 200, you could get an entirely separate Master contract at the BWV. I'm thinking your guide told you that there weren't any BWV points available because he/she was only looking at your current use year. I find it hard to believe that there aren't ANY use years available at the BWVthat have 200 points in them, but I suppose it could be true.

Anyway, I'm not sure why you are worrying about the price increase. If you bought 200 points, the difference would be $600 (not sure how much that is in pounds). That doesn't seem like much compared to the total price -just think of the increase as getting 6 less points for your money.

Good luck!

Hi Joh! We bought SSR and AKV through DVC and VWL through The Timeshare Store. Both were straightforward tho' the resale took longer. As you're thinking of getting quite a few points, I'd take a look at the BWV resale listing link above and contact the TSS if there's anything that catches your eye. They were very helpful and, even when my first contract got ROFR'd, found something else suitable very quickly. Initially we paid a 10% deposit and the balance (including closing costs) on closing about 8 weeks later. Contracts were simply emailed/faxed back and forth so no complications there and we wired the money directly from our UK bank account. Good luck! :thumbsup2
