1) does Captian Cooks at the Poly sell Kona or tan dishwater

2) how many cups do the press pots at Boma and Kona serve ( I have a little one that holds about 2 but I am hoping for a jumbo size for $7) and I am guessing no refills on that.

3) Does the Kona Coffee Bar( never even knew it existed ) at the Poly sell Kona ( hence the name) and where exactly is it.

Thanks

I don't know about Captain Cooks.

Press Pot yielded four cups--DH and I enjoyed two each with our 7 press pots over our week-long stay at the Poly. Yum. You're right, no refills.

The Kona Coffee bar is right next to the Kona Cafe near the exit to the Monorail platform. They sell coffee beverages and you can buy 100% Kona beans and Kona blend beans by the 12-oz. bag.

Captain Cook's sells the same coffee that is found most places in the World these days. While to me it's neither tan nor like dishwater, it's not very good either. Certainly not like the coffee at Kona or Kona Express.

The Polynesian used to serve Sexton coffee which I loved. Not as strong as Kona but I preferred it.

thanks, we will be forgetting the refillable mugs then but visiting the coffee bar!

We used the coffee bar every day.....loved it... my DH loved the cafe mocha.....loved it... i just had good old coffee... very good...amy

The Kona Coffee Bar also sells coffee to bring home (whole beans or ground)! We always have to pick up a couple of pounds. It's better than the "Kona" coffee we've found around here.

thanks already decided on wha ti'm bringing home as oldest daughter's gift :Kona and Ghiradelli!

You can also get FRESH brewed coffee at the Writer's Stop Bookstore at MGM It's tucked in down by the Muppet Attraction.
Also, at Epcot, you can get real Expresso in France and Turkish Coffee in Moroco. We had a real quest for good coffee on our last trip.
There was a huge thread of the "real" coffee places last year.
Might be time to start a new one!

how is turkish coffee different ? many years ago( way before "coffee" was a "gourmet " item.. my husband got expresso for the first time ever in the french pastry shop and did not realize you only get a small cup. he was pretty upset they had only filled his up 1/2 way for $ 2 !(or what ever it was at the time..) and complained...the CMs looked at him like he was crazy

Just be aware that 12 oz of 100% Kona Beans is about $40.

Is this the price at the Poly? Locally I get 100% Kona for $20 / 12oz. I get mail order Kona for about $28/lb. Jamaican Blue Mountain on the other hand runs about $40/lb.

Yes, that was Poly price. On the advice of another poster, I just ordered some Kona from Hawaii General Store online. $22 for half pound, shipping included. Have not tried it yet.

Getting a bit OT here but that sounds a bit high. Kona should run about $25 - $30/lb. I drink Maxwell House in the mornings before work, but when I drink on weekends or at night after a nice dinner it's Jamaican Blue Mountain or Kona. 10 years in the Navy turned me into a coffee fiend.

I know I am wild with cash when I stay at WDW but I don't remember spending $40/lb at Kona coffee bar for their coffee. It has either gone up or I need to pay more attention to my spending while I am there. Also, try the Mickey Mouse choc chip cookies they sell with the ears dipped in chocolate. Just don't tell me what they cost. They are the best cookies around.

$40 per POUND is what I thought I bought at Poly. Then I looked at the package weight--12 ounces. My husband is insane for WDW Kona, so to him it was worth it. We also got the blend which was $12 for 12 ounces. We've had some so-called Kona from other sources which was just ok. Hoping to try our Hawaiian Kona tomorrow--if DH has his sense of taste back, he's getting over a cold.

It's a special disney blend of Kona coffee beans and pixie dust. ::MickeyMo You can order from an on-line vendor for about half the price, but I'm sure it wouldn't taste the same. ;)

We just had our first press pot of the Kona we ordered direct from Hawaii. It was outstanding, but the WDW press pot at Kona Cafe is definitey superior--must be the atmosphere that comes with it! The sounds of the waterfall in the Poly lobby, the view of the Monorail pulling up every view minutes, the aroma of the Tonga Toast...

I am going to WDW in just a few days, and I didn't even THINK about the coffee situation! I need a cup in the morning or I'm not human.

I'm staying at CSR so I don't think I'll trek too far for coffee. I was wondering about people who bring their own coffe to brew in the room. What do you need? What size filter fits the coffee maker? I am tempted to just bring the instant coffee bags and bew hot water.

I'm not sure about CSR, but this thanksgiving we'll be at the Grand Floridian. We going to ask for a coffee maker. Apparently they'll provide a 4 cup drip maker on request.

We're having dinner at Kona Cafe the day we check in, so I'm going have a fresh bag ground up for the week. Might even splurge for a press pot.

Are the press pots available for sale at the Kona Cafe or just the coffee. I don't remember seeing the press pots and I heard that Mickey's Gourmet Pantry will be closed during my stay with the exception of the bakery and candies. That was the only place I remember seeing the press pots.
