A complete change of plan...and the DLH?

So the plan has completely changed from a family trip for me, my sister, our auntie and cousins to just a trip for me and my sister. Turns out that our uncle wanted to go too, and it would have worked out as just too expensive for them as family of four.

Charlotte and I were still desperate to go, so we started to play around with some different dates to see if there was any time that we would be able to go.

We are looking at December 15th-19th. It is our 21st birthday on the 11th, so the trip will be a celebration of that.

Only problem is... where to stay? We are so tempted by the DLH but it's £1,100 for four nights :scared1:.

In comparison, New York is £656; NPB £584. It's a huge amount of money but we can afford it (probably the only time that we will be able to!) This, in addition with the fact that it will be freezing December temperatures, we could please ourselves with breakfast times (and the selection of breakfast foods!), the generally amazing atmosphere of the hotel and our birthday means that we are very, very tempted...but is it worth it?! What would you do? I am almost 100% sure that I want to stay there, but don't want to regret the huge cost when it's too late.

(Sorry about all of the 'which hotel?' threads recently, but it is just so hard to choose and nobody else understands why it costs so much money!!)

If you'd wait, maybe some kind of a deal will come up?
If I could, I would stay in pink palace and give myself a treat.
I do like HNY a lot and you could spent price difference on character meal or something like that.
But I'd wait fir a better deal.

Personally with those prices I would choose the HNY, the DLH is nice but not worth nearly double the HNY. Just remember the NPB is under going renovation for the next couple of years so this might put people off

This deal is already 4 nights for the price of 2, so not sure if there will be a better one :confused3

Like you say, it is the dream to stay there, but the price difference is huge!

oh my, the price is huge indeed. I'd go for HNY.

I don't think that is bad for the DLH tbh. You won't get 4 nights there for any cheaper than that - if you can afford it; I would say do it. It really is a wonderful experience staying there. If you can't afford it then either HNY or NPB would be fab (NPB was our favourite of the two) and I don't think you will get a better deal than 50% off unless you go for less days and get a 40% off deal.

Its better then we paid for 1ad 1ch at DLH for May! You could book HNY and wait til closer and see what comes up and if you can then upgrade if its a suitable offer but if no better offer comes up you would still be staying in a fab hotel - we love HNY!

2 nights free doesn't always equal 50% off, even on a 4-night stay. This is because on a 2-night stay, you're paying for 2 nights and 3 days, on a 4-night stay, you get 4 nights and 5 days (50% would be double 2 nights and 3 days, so would be 4 nights and 6 days). Last time I worked it out on the full price etc, 2 nights free worked out at just a smidge under 40% off.

Ah; fair point. Maths was never my strong point! ;) I go by nights rather than days!

I'd recommend doing it if you can, it really is a dream to stay there. If you don't think you'll have the opportunity to do it in the future, then take this opportunity and have a fantastic time!

Thank you for all the replies - sounds like the general thought is that it's a good deal...I think we are pretty much sold on the DLH now so I think we'll mull it over for a couple more days just to make sure then hopefully book!

i think thats what i would do to start with - book HNY and then see if a better offer comes out for the DLH, then upgrade :).

I too would say this is a good idea. But having stayed at the DLH for similar dates last year, I would say that if you can stretch to it, then do it. I am so glad that we did. But if not, then the HNY is a good 'fall back' plan.

The Disneyland Hotel is my absolute favourite :cloud9: . I have been extremely fortunate enough to be able to stay there each time I visit and I would struggle to stay elsewhere. I would definitely say it IS worth every penny and the 4 nights for 2 at £1,100.00 actually makes for a very good deal at the DLH - believe me!! :surfweb:

It will be December, it will be cold, Christmassy and extremely magical. There is no better end to the day than to stroll back to your room in the Pink Palace and warm yourself up at Café Fantasia with a nice little drink knowing you have just a few steps until you're back in your room, just inches away from Main Street USA!

If it helps sell it to you, have a look at my TR from my stay there for the Christmas Season in November just gone, it was the most perfect break ever - worth every single penny!

The way I see it, if you can afford to do it - then go live your dream and do it! :cutie:

hello :wave2:
I'm Charlotte, Christieand's sister…I am completely sold on the DLH (but then again I am able to spend my money much more easily than Christie!)…she text me today whilst I was at work asking if I wanted to stay there. I replied straight away with a definite 'yes', she was surprised and was expecting to have to persuade me!
Thanks for all your advice, think I know what will be getting me through the next 9 months of exams and essays (and also distracting me from them…I turn into a planning monster!) :cloud9:

Have opened your TR but can't bear to read it i'm going to burst with excitement! The Disneyland Hotel looks amazing…is it wrong that one thing i'm most looking forward to is adding the DLH pin to my collection?! :rotfl:

Another way to look at it is - as it is split between the two of you - it is really only £550 for 4 nights 5 days! ;-) Which I think is a bargain! :lmao:

We stayed for the first time last week, and absolutely loved it. I doubt we will stay anywhere else, if we can get a similar price to this time!

Charlotte you're going to LOVE it there! I am so excited for you both!!! As soon as DBF and I got back from our Christmas visit to the DLH in November, we booked again for this November too! It is truly magical and unforgettable :cloud9:

Hope you get your pin! Your sister can be getting the cocktails in at Café Fantasia whilst you shop for your pin... I recommend the Bacardi Royale! :cutie:

Disboards are officially a bad influence! To be honest, it's all the trip reports like yours and Rosebug's that convince me so much...it just looks so amazing and I can't resist it! Charlotte is currently whistling the Dreams soundtrack...anyone would think she's excited...
