I know I read somewhere a while back (I am pretty sure it was on DIS) that there is a company near Orlando that you can reant campers/motorhomes from and they will tow to campround and set up for you. Does anyone know who that may be? Or maybe there's more than one? I think it would be a fun, and less expensive trip for our family.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about I know it would be you guys.

Thanks very much.

Hi! There is makecampingeasy.com, and/or campatthefort.com. Both of these businesses are owned by regular posters here on the boards, and although I've only met one of them in person, I've heard nothing but GREAT things about both. Hope this helps!

There is pros and cons to this service. I will say we rented from one of the above firms. First they were nice friendly people so I am not going to say which firm and I realize in retrospect these things are bound to happen. Overall, I would say their rv was nice and had plenty of goodies to use. HOWEVER, emergency maintanence issues DO come up and if you don't know how to fix them yourself you maybe out of luck as we were. Some of these companies are literally HOURS away and this is not their full time job. We had a MAJOR MAJOR problem happen at night time that totally made for a completely miserable night. Basically had to get on the phone and try to fix the problem myself (something I frankly was scared to work on) the over the phone instructions didn't work. We were about at the point where it was almost like lets just pack our stuff and leave in the middle of the night because the enviroment in the rv was so hostile to comfort. Lets just say would you want to be EXTREMELY HOT OR COLD... like so hot you can't breath/sweat lodge or so cold you literally have to put on every item of clothes you have and still aren't warm. IT WAS THAT BAD!
So remember you're not renting from disney where you can call the park manager and complain if you don't get service asap. While these service maybe cheaper than the cabins, the cabins are still over all nicer and this is one of those things where you get what you pay for. We wanted to be in one of the loops and have a more traditional camping experience again but it turned out to be a Clark Griswald night that made this trip not so fun.

Though I have never used either of these services, they both have an excellent reputation.

This may be presumptuous of me, but I noticed in your ticker that you are hoping for free dining and wanted to point out that FD is NOT offered for the campsites. If you have your own camper or one you may borrow, it is less expensive to camp and eat most of your meals at the campsite. That is what we recently did and it worked out beautifully for our family. In fact, I saved enough money for another Disney vacation. However, if you are wanting FD, renting a camper and paying for the DDP will not be as cost effective. Again, I don't know what your plans are, but I thought I would point that out...in case you didn't know that information already.

I hope this makes sense and whatever you choose, you're going to have a great time. And, welcome!!

Ok, thank you very much. No I wasn't aware of the camping and not able to do FD. I was only looking into because my parents have an RV, and I thought we could stay by them. Can you get a cabin and do FD?? I am fairly new to all this. We did FD last year and it was SOOOO worth it. we all really enjoyed it! I did like staying offsite when we did that as it was cheaper in many ways until you factor in the dining prices IF you eat comperable to what we did when we had the ddp.

thank you very much for the info :) :thumbsup2

Yes, FD is available with cabin stays. I agree that FD is worth it IF you plan on eating all of your meals on site. Heck, the DDP in general is worth it if you are eating all your meals on site. The price for DDP is steep, but the price of Disney food purchased off the plan is even steeper.

Play around with the numbers; it still may be less expensive if you stay in a campsite and buy the DDP. Especially if you split the cost of the campsite with your parents, but you would have to buy a vacation package. We did room only and got a FL discount rate being as my parents live in FL. We only ate out 2-3 times; the majority of our meals were in the camper. We were there for homeschool days, so we got great prices on our park tickets. If I remember correctly, the whole vacation (7 days/6 nights) cost me around $800-$900. Even with FD at Pop, it would have cost me around $1800. You would see an even bigger savings compared to the cabins.

We had purchased the DDP on our prior 3 trips and my kids were a little disappointed about not eating Disney food. BUT, they were so intrigued with the campground, they did not miss the food. With the 2-3 meals out and lots of Mickey bars, they were fulfilled.

If you decide to stay at FW (cabins or campsite) you will absolutely LOVE it! The people on this forum know everything (and I do mean everything) about FW, so do not be shy in asking questions.
