A comment to the old DB posters

Just wanted to say that the DB being closed has had it's benefits. Since a lot of the DB regulars are posting on the CB now and not in just the debate sense, I have discovered a lot of fun and interesting things I would have never learned if it hadn't been for the "move". For instance, some have a great sense of humor and interests outside of debating. It's just really nice to see "the other side" of everybody too.

I agree. I've enjoyed the CB so much more over the past few weeks, its nice having a change of pace here. I'm not much of a debator, I lose interest pretty quickly and therefore hesitate to jump in the fray if I don't plan to ride out the debate. But I like reading the debates, and getting to know the cast of characters that once made up the DB.

I've shown people my "other" side on occasion.

I like having the debates here too. I've found that some who did not venture over the the DB are now posting on the debate threads here. It's nice to have some new blood in the debates.

I don't get involved in the debates, especially the political ones because I am not good at arguing my point and they all seem so intelligent and have all these facts and links to stories that I could never keep up with them and would look like a big idiot. (which most times I am)

I have to say reading the debates I have actually learned some things and I read the links/ I find them interesting.


AND sometimes topics are very funny the way they get way off topic and go in a different direction.

You're not an idiot! Oh it breaks my heart to hear someone say that about themselves! Everyone's opinion is important, even when we don't agree. It's how we learn. It's ok to not want to participate in the debates, but please, please, please do not think you are too dumb to participate.

I encourage you to add your thoughts then. If anyone tries to get ya, I'll slap them silly. All it takes is practice.

Anyway, on topic. I love the new format. I am participating a lot more and I used to just lurk. I have met a lot of new, fun, intersting people.

I think it would be great as long as threads here weren't turned into debates when they aren't debates! It seems some think that the debate board wasn't closed at all- that it was just combined with this board and anything posted here is up for debate.. any answering questions on threads, etc.
It's kept me from really wanting to participate on many threads in this forum- because I know I can't just post an answer for myself or my opinion as a "community board"- it will be replied to as if it's a debate.
