try reading this instead..events of 9/11

That's hilarious. I read it and Bush just skips on by any mention of what he did initially. But we have his reaction on video, so we can make our own judgements. Just like we have Clinton's reaction to being asked about Monica on record. Spin all you want, but the story is there for the reading.

Look, I'm no liberal. I thought Moore's film was terrible. But do we have to defend Bush on every single little point? So the guy lost it for a little while. That's not going to change my vote.

I have no idea why conservatives insist on having such low expectations for thier president. This never fails to amaze me. As a conservative, I have more expectations for Bush as compared to the expectations I had for someone like Clinton.

F9/11 is an unfair diatribe that got one little thing right. Why conservatives need to get so defensive about this I'll never figure out. My advice to Republicans is to ignore this film. It will play well with those who have already made up their mind. Thoughtful people on the fence won't be fooled by this stuff.

What I don't get is, this happened almost 3 years ago, yet, we've not heard one bit of out crying from anyone till this film was released. If Bush's actions were so far out there, I would have thought all of you would have been outraged on Sept. 11, as you are today. Forget the Monday night quarterbacking. I'll give you every single day till any mention of this in Moore's film. You even have the benefit of hindsight. Why did no one complain about these horrific actions of Bush in the last several years????????????? Would someone please tell me why?????

. What do you suppose Carter does learning that his country is under attack? Sit there dumbly wondering what to do, waiting for others to tell him where to stand? I don’t think so.

based on the following news clip...I'm guessing he hides under a school desk...

Jimmy Carter’s ‘Killer Bunny’

All presidents face confrontation. The media attacks. The opposing party attacks. And 20 years ago, as Jimmy Carter found, a bunny rabbit can also attack.

The so-called “killer bunny” that came after Carter as he was fishing near his home in Plains, Ga., in mid-1979 marks an interesting moment in the history of White House controversy. Certainly, his staffers will never forget

“It just played up the Carter flake factor and contributed to his public persona as something less than a commanding presence. I mean, he had to deal with Russia and the Ayatollah and here he was supposedly fighting off a rabbit.”

As soon as his aid had told him that America was under attack, he should have calmly said something like, "Thank you for welcoming me to your school but I'm afraid I have to leave a little earlier than planned. Being President is a very busy job and sometimes things happen that you weren't expecting, so I have to leave now but I promise to come back and hear you all read as soon as I can." That would've taken about 10 seconds.
That is one decision. And it is your iopinion of what you think would have been appropriate. GWB has stated that he decided to present a calm front for the American people.

I have no need to spin anything...
as far as low expectations , I disagree, I don't have low expectations for the President, what I do have is a good understanding of the way the system works...in knowing that no president micromanages the country...that a good leader lets his people do their job and inform him of things he needs to know..I also know there is no way in the world the secret service would have hastily moved him from that school.... he did nothing wrong....things were being taken care of by his capable staff..he addressed the nation in a very timely manner, and was fully in charge that day whether you choose to believe it or not..

what bothers me is people on the outside of Government who have no clue what it really takes to run the country or a state for that matter, yet they will second guess what happened that day, and claim they could have done better

ITA...and what is MORE disturbing is that I suspect MM knows that this spin is irrelevant but uses it as easy 'dirt' to drive the ignorant masses into a frenzy....

Let's face it MM has his own agenda...he wants Bush out. Do you think that if MM couldn't get a backer for this film until AFTER the election and Bush lost that he would even bother showing it? First off it would not have accomplished anything and second it wouldn't have made any money for him.

Now another question...there is a group that wants the commercials for the movie stopped after July 1st based on the fact that they are political and can be construed as a political ad. What do you think? (I know...way off topic...sorry) I say keep showing them...not an ad.

Thats exactly what I like about the film. I can't say I agree with it 100%, but I like the idea that it brings up some controversial issues that a lot of people may not want to talk about. :sunny:

Controversial issues?

How in blatantly taking things out of context and making them appear as something totally different than what actually happened creating a controversial issue?

Sounds Moore like a lie to me.

that's a tough decision..if they keep showing them, what's to stop people in the future from making biased documentaries, just so the adds can run and sway voters..

1 - Delegation works wonders...in situations that call for it. But when leadership is needed (say, oh, I dunno, a crisis situation), there is no substitute (though I can see how someone that thinks Bush is a good leader might miss that).

Soo... Just what did you expect him to personally?

Handle all 6 cell phones at the same time?

Of course he knows what he's doing. So does everyone else of his ilk. Limbaugh and Coulter do it as well, just in different mediums. Like I say to my liberal friends who get all frothy in the mouth whenever Rush makes one of his indefensible claims: why are you giving this guy so much credit. The more fuss you make, the more people are going to want to hear what he says.

And as far as the "ignorant masses" are concerned, the only people I see in a frenzy are conservatives.

The human beings hired are experts. That's why they get the job. His advisors have to be approved. Experts are not animatrons, they're experts in their field and advise the president on everything. [/B][/QUOTE]

Okay, I have only read up to page 11, and I just have to post this and move on cause this thread is beyong amazing. I just have to say...are you kidding me??? At the core, these people are just humans. If he didnt look scared, wouldnt you worry?

The point is, when presented with evidence that's been manipulated, any conclusions are suspect.

Some people don't need much of a push, do they?

Do you honestly want to base your opinions on facts that have been distorted or outright fabricated?

It's pretty obvious that many people did just that.
